The detour

The plan was simple. Cars&Coffee in Malibu, straight up Highway 1.

Then we saw the beach empty, the sand still cool, the light just coming over the hills. So the plan changed.

Ten minutes on the sand with two Triebwerk 911s, then back on PCH. We still made it to coffee.

Sometimes the best part of the drive is the stop you didn't plan.

First light over the hills, spilling onto the sand and the Pacific.

Chalk grey and Signal yellow.
Same timeless shape, two very different moods. The grey picks up the soft colors of the morning sky. The yellow simply glows.

Round headlights, wide rear hips, a roofline that hasn't needed changing in 60 years. The 911 never goes out of style, especially on the California coast.

In German, Triebwerk means jet engine. So we took ours to where the jet engines live. ✈️At the John Wayne Airport and Porsche on the Flightline event and an air-cooled flat-six that fits the setting:

🔹 4.3 liters, built on the 964/993 architecture
🔹 450 hp
🔹 475 Nm (350lb-ft) of torque
🔹 Revs to 7,400 rpm
🔹 Cast and machined in-house

German engineering now available in the US through 911 Design, Montclair , Los Angeles.

Built for the runway. Made for the road.

📩 DM us or visit 911 Design to talk about your build.

🏆 BEST CLASSIC CAR REBUILD 🏆

Vegas, you showed up and showed out! Huge thanks to everyone at the Las Vegas Auto Fest for the incredible energy this weekend — and to the judges for handing us the trophy for Best Classic Car Rebuild. 🥇

Massive shoutout to the beautiful Las Vegas showgirls who brought the glamour to our booth and helped make this the show it was. ✨

But the real thank you goes to all of YOU — the crowd who came out, voted, and lost your minds the first time you saw our Triebwerk cars live in Vegas. Your reactions said it all. This one’s for you. 🙏🇩🇪🇺🇸

Air-cooled engineering, redefined. Our engines are the product of a partnership between Triebwerk (Germany) and Egmo (Switzerland) — built on the proven 964/993 architecture, and the only ones on the market achieving a reliable 4.3L of displacement.

The numbers:
450 HP
480 Nm / 354 lb-ft of torque
7,400 RPM redline

Bigger displacement, zero compromise — this platform still delivers razor-sharp responsiveness and relentless acceleration.

Built for Triebwerk USA. Sold exclusively at 911 Design, Los Angeles, California.

Porsche's rise in America was written largely in California. This state has shaped how the world sees Porsche — and its enthusiast community has never let up. Some of the most respected Porsche restoration and preservation shops anywhere are based right here in California, working to keep the air-cooled legacy alive and correct.
That's the community Triebwerk was built for. When our cars roll into a cruise-in or a concours here, the people who show up know exactly what they're looking at — and they tell us, every time, that Triebwerk represents the pinnacle of the classic air-cooled 911.
That recognition, from a market this deep in Porsche history, means everything. #Porsche911 #AircooledPorsche #Triebwerk #ClassicPorsche #Porsche by @dastriebwerk

for those who value character over trends.
für alle jene, die Charakter mehr schätzen als Trends. #porsche #porschelove #porscheclassic by @dastriebwerk

For those who do not choose a car because it is new, but because it makes them feel something. At a time when so much feels interchangeable and shaped by the mainstream, we are drawn to cars with soul, character, and a genuine story - or to giving that back where it has been lost.

This backdate shows what is possible in craftsmanship and engineering and what we can bring to life in client commissions. Dieses Backdate zeigt, was handwerklich und technisch möglich ist und was wir auf Kundenwunsch in Projekten realisieren. #porsche #porsche964 #porschebackdate by @dastriebwerk

The classic body does not need a new design - it has long become an icon. What it needs is technical progress that preserves its soul while giving it new life. That, to us, is the true art of a backdate.

Every one of our cars begins with a personal vision. We do not simply build cars - we create character, presence, and emotion, shaped around our clients‘ wishes. That is how every idea becomes a one-of-one creation.
