Its hard the choosing yourself. Feels selfish. When life was falling apart i really couldnt see how taking care of me would work. I had to take care of everyone else. Once they were ok. Only then could i consider my needs. Trouble is, us humans are always in a bit of bother. So take some advice from a 55 year old nanna. Be a bit bloody selfish. #midlifetransformation #menopausalandthriving #midlifestyle #50plusandfabulous #boundaries by @dawn_lister_wellness

Women grow up learning to put everyone and everything before them. Thats how we feel safest. People pleasing and being the most selfless person in the room. Until menopause hits you and you literally crash. People pleasing and self abandonment is going kill you at this point. So stop it. Start taking care of you first. And watch how your world lights up. #perimenopause #menopausalglow #midlifetransformation #50andfit #peoplepleasernomore by @dawn_lister_wellness

Menopausal women are the strongest warriors on this planet. They have walked through the fire of perimenopause. Battled with the patriachy. Carried the collective trauma of the women who have gone before. Fought back against the expectation that they look perpetually 25. Faced inequality in all areas of her life. Carried the mental load of their whole family whilst simultaneously building a career or holding down a second job, because lets be clear managing a home and family is already a job a job that is unpaid. And then we hit the end of our menstration cycle and we are no longer fertile. Our youthful appearance fades and we settle into the body of a warrior resplendent with battle scars. Scars that show up on our faces as lines and grooves. On bellies that stretched as we grew life. Arms that carried children and or pets, wash loads, shopping and briefcases no longer tight and firm now show signs of sag. This incredible body this map of your life is a celebration of you coming into your crone power. And it is terrifying to the patriachy. Because a crone has time to shout back. Isnt afraid off taking up space. Has access to the rage of her ancestors and will not stand by and be relegated to the benches of life. Over looked. Patronised. Or sold the story life her is over. I have news for you. Menopause is the birth of your warrior women. The fierce crone unafraid of using her voice. Her wisdom. Her intellect. Her intution. Her sheer power to speak the truth in the face of oppression. This rebirth is your right of passage, and yes it hurts. As you let go of the old system that had you locked down too busy and overwhelmed by responsibilty to push back or take up space. Perimenopause is your right of passage. It is the fire that births your crone in all her fierce and beautiful glory. Celebrate her. #crone #menopause #perimenopause #fierceandfabulous #patriachy by @dawn_lister_wellness
