Is Dolby Atmos just Surround Sound with extra speakers? Think again. 👀🔊

Dolby Atmos vs Surround Sound — there’s a lot more happening than you might think!

Traditional surround sound works with channels, while Dolby Atmos introduces object-based audio, giving sound the freedom to move through a 3D space, even above you.

This reel is just a simple introduction to the concept. There’s so much more to explore! I’ll be covering many more topics, technical aspects, common myths, and practical insights about Dolby Atmos in upcoming videos.

For now, let’s understand the basics, one step at a time. 🎧

Ever wondered why different songs have different rhythmic feels? 🎵🔥

From 3/4, 4/4, 5/4, 7/4 and beyond, time signatures shape the rhythm, groove, and flow of music.

Understand how they work, what the numbers mean, and how they influence your music production. 🎹

Layer by layer, mistake by mistake, it slowly unfolds into something that feels like a miracle. ✨🎹

A new cinematic piece, officially composed by me for a project. Every layer, every imperfection, every little detail becomes a part of the magic. 🎬🎶

Because sometimes, the most beautiful things are created by simply trusting the process. ❤️ by @dawsic.yt

🎙️ Do You Know These Microphone Types?

🎙️ Note: The Sonarworks SoundID Reference mic is an omnidirectional calibration microphone, not a supercardioid shotgun mic. 🎯 I used it as a visual reference for beginners. The actual shotgun mic shown beside it is the RØDE microphone. 🎧

Different microphones are designed for different recording applications. Let’s understand their key differences! 👇

🎤 1. Condenser Microphone – Highly sensitive and ideal for studio vocals, acoustic instruments, and detailed recordings.

💻 2. USB Condenser Microphone – Connects directly to a computer, making it convenient for podcasting, streaming, and content creation.

🎬 3. Shotgun Microphone – Designed for directional sound capture, commonly used in filmmaking, dialogue recording, and video production.

📏 4. Calibration Microphone – Measures speaker and room frequency response to help calibrate monitoring systems, such as with Sonarworks SoundID Reference.

🎙️ 5. Dynamic Microphone – Durable and versatile, widely used for live vocals, instruments, and stage performances.

📎 6. Lavalier Microphone – A compact clip-on microphone used for interviews, presentations, and video recording.

🎧 Understanding different microphone types helps you choose the right tool for the right application.

🎙️ Is humidity damaging your studio microphones?

High humidity and moisture can affect sensitive microphone components over time, potentially contributing to corrosion and capsule-related issues.

Here are some possible symptoms of moisture-related damage:
▪️ Crackling or intermittent noise
▪️ Unwanted noise in your recordings
▪️ Signal dropouts
▪️ Distortion or reduced microphone sensitivity

⚠️ These symptoms can also have other causes, such as faulty cables, connectors, or preamps.

How can you prevent moisture-related damage?

✅ Store microphones in a clean, dry, protective case.
✅ Use silica gel desiccant packets inside a suitable enclosed storage container.
✅ Monitor humidity, especially during the monsoon season.
✅ Consider a humidity-controlled dry cabinet for valuable studio gear.
❌ Avoid using a hair dryer to dry sensitive microphone components.

Remember, prevention is better than trying to fix moisture damage later.
