All the spotlights are on @dior unveiling in Los Angeles the first #DiorCruise collection by #JonathanAnderson with a parade of #womenswear and #menswear. Titled WILSHIRE BOULEVARD is an ode to Hollywood allure and California attitude with @lacma as a unique setting «Christian Dior understood how important the idea of 'the dream' was for people after the war, as a form of escapism. He explored this in couture, his Surrealist friends were obsessed with dreams and, of course, Hollywood is 'The Dream Factory'. It was all part of the same cross-cultural shift… The House has a longstanding relationship with cinema. Christian Dior designed costumes for “Le Lit à Colonnes” in 1942, before he founded the House. He received an Oscar nomination in 1955 for his designs for “Terminal Station”. And in 1950, two films he'd worked on were released: “Les Enfants Terribles” by Jean-Pierre Melville and “Stage Fright”, which was one of the main starting points for this collection». by @giampietrobaudo

Spotlights on @maisonvalentino by @alessandro_michele back in #Rome at Palazzo Barberini to unveil the co-ed show #womenswear and #menswear for #fw2627, the first one after the founder #ValentinoGaravani passed away. And the last look is a red evening dress to pay an homage to the king of chic. «Palazzo Barberini is not an architecture at peace. It is a space of tension where many devices concur to question form's claim to stability. The building resists any synthesis between order and movement: it lays bare their forced coexistence, their permanent friction, the interferences produced as they overlap… In this tension, running through stone and textile alike, the show INTERFERENZE unveils the collision between code and deviation, lightness and gravity, rule and profusion, transparency and opacity, conformity and transgression.
