Hopping on the 2016 trend😜✌🏽The year that changed my life forever, when insta was stil pictures only💅🏽📸 The first two are technically 31 dec. 2015- but counts🫶🏼 It was the year i decided to quit my job at the police. January 2016 was the first month of starting an office job at body engineers- I did customer service & later athlete manager, later to become a content creator. Against all odds.. here we are baby!! Proud to show you my February cover of @womenshealthnl 🫶🏼🥹.from not being able to walk with non stop pain, to today..❤️‍🩹 After not being able to train for 5 months post hernia surgery, I barely had 6 weeks to get get ready to do the shoot in December.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Constantly convincing my mind what my heart already knew it wanted to do: recover and come back stronger than ever. Not knowing it would result in one of the biggest covers I’ve done in my career🫶🏼 thank you guys for always being my number one support even if that meant I couldn’t be the energetic happy self at times in my recovery.🤕💕⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀While still in recovery i set my mind on eating healthy and enough, putting my health first. I HAD to do this for myself💪🏽. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀to close it off.. Let me be your reminder that when you’re in a bad period and bridging the space between where you are and where you want to be, that the person you’re becoming is already within you🙏🏽🔥 it may sound cliche.. but when I was crying on the couch, of the pain post surgery, all I could think of was that even this hell was part of the journey. From not being able to walk to running again. (giveaway) This is why running means the world to me🌎 a little story time on global running day..👇🏽💌 Ive had herniated discs for 10 years without knowing it, untill one snapped.I’ll never forget that I could literally not stand straight, laying in the back of the car on two seats- Jeremy driving slowly over the tiniest bumps on the road. Pulling me out the car and putting me on the couch for weeks at end. I couldn’t flex my right foot, couldn’t walk, couldn’t sit, just laying down for hours on hours. I saw my body change in a matter of weeks from strong to fragile. That’s one of those moments you realize life can be taken from you in a second. Recovery took me 1 year of no gym, 2 years until I could lift heavy again and 3 years untill my first run ⭐️Fast forward to today- I can truly say We’re so caught up in life that we don’t even realize something as “simple” as running is one of the biggest privileges when it comes to moving your body.To me.. running is freedom.It’s pushing my limits- because I can finally challenge those limits again!It’s soaring on the road when no one’s there.When I’m in my own bubble.On my own pace. Mondays>>>pain and burn but the good kind🌼🍑💁🏻‍♀️If I’m fully honest, this is the first week in weeks that I’m really feeling in routine again. It’s hard to really get back to something that used to be your everyday, when things don’t go so well in a period of hardships. Maybe some of you can relate, maybe you can’t- that’s fine too!🫶🏼 but life can get hella in the way sometimes🌝 and finding the physical strength to really lift weights , is far from simple in that time.🫠 So by simply going and finding your original strength back is the only motivation I needed again!🥰🦋 after that it gets rolling and it becomes your “normal” once more. Nothing makes me feel as good as strength training does💅🏽 so get your bumbum moving gal! I know you can you just needed someone to tell you🌻 Workout of the day: 🤍Leg Press// 3 x 10-12. (Voeten hoog/wijd voor glutes)🌼Dumbbell B-stance RDL// 3 x 10-12. 🤍DB Incline Bench Press// 3 x 10 🌼Cable Pull-Through// 3 x 12-15.🤍 (didn’t film but these are great if you struggle with grip strength!) This and a free afternoon in the weekend🍃💅🏽 A workout for the brain starting my own veggie and fruit garden😍🍅🍃I’m normally such an outdoors person, but living in the Netherlands gives us little time in the sun (about 4-6 months a year, 130 days of rain🌞) so more than happy it’s almost summer!!🥰One of my hobbies is gardening, call it adulting🤣 but it makes my mind clock out- which is great in this overstimulating society. Also… great workout hehe💅🏽 couple of hours in the garden is cardio enough hihi. by @nochtlii

I mean.. you’re Dutch or you ain’t😜🤣 time for outdoor runs again!!😍 Testing the new @brooksrunningblx GHOST 18 today, I like that they have those soft pillows on the inside around your ankles. But stability at the bottom, my ankles tend to cave in-so, so far, great combo!! And yes ya girl is a sneaker head nowadays for running😜💅🏽 one tip: always take a half size or size bigger! It does get better..❤️‍🩹🕊️ it took me 10 years to “deal” with it and give the grief a place. It settles, becomes quieter, less overwhelming. You learn to live with it, to carry it gently. Eventually, something will catch your eye.. a photo, a favorite song, a familiar scent, and instead of pain, you’ll feel warmth. That’s the quiet truth about grief. It stays with you, but it changes.
