Lumi the lynx has found her forever home. 🐾

I first met Lumi when she was rescued 12 week old cub who was injured and lost her mom. Seeing her healthy, thriving and settling into her new home at the Assiniboine Park Zoo is heartwarming.

I am lynx clan—bizhiw nindoodem— so you could say I’ve been rooting for my relative.

We’re proud to support our animal friends with a $650k investment in @wildlifehaven _mb and $5M for a new Animal Health Centre at the @assiniboine_park zoo.

I know this one is controversial, and I am totally open to hearing your opinions on this!
I just think it’s important to acknowledge that this is a ‘compliment’ that:
- values a smaller body over a bigger one
- makes people aware that you notice their body fluctuations
- can give people a fear of weight regain
- is often based on the assumption that weight loss is always a positive thing, when it isn’t necessarily
- may unintentionally praise someone for a body change that was caused by stress, grief, illness, or an eating disorder
- shifts attention to appearance rather than who someone is or how they’re doing
- can make people in larger bodies feel like the opposite message is being communicated.

None of this means people who say it have bad intentions - most of the time they’re trying to be kind.

I just think it’s worth asking why ‘you look thinner’ is so often treated as a compliment in the first place, and what that says about the value we place on different bodies.

The principles of CQB are Surprise Speed Violence of Action.

In that order.

That order matters because it’s the order you leverage them and the order you lose them. When surprise is gone, you rely on speed. When speed is no longer available, you impose your will through Violence of Action and seize the initiative.

Those principles are not negotiable. You can invent your own if you want, but at some point you’re no longer talking about CQB.

This business is not for everyone. If it was, everyone would be doing it professionally. There are attributes that make a great assaulter that cannot be taught and cannot be manufactured. Training won’t give you any of them. This is the hardest thing for guys to accept.

What you can control is your hard skills foundation.

Develop hard skills that are so refined and so reliable that they support a massive framework of TTPs. A foundation strong enough to solve problems regardless of what the structure, adversary, or situation throws at you.

There is nothing advanced about this.

There are no secret techniques. No special tricks.
.
.
Just an overdeveloped mastery of fundamentals and a clear understanding of principles. The ability to recognize what matters, leverage it at the right time, and apply it with precision when it counts.
