Introducing our global cover star,
@anyataylorjoy.
“I’ve always been nomadic by nature,” the British-Argentine actor tells L’OFFICIEL. “Now I’ve just fully embraced it as part of who I am. If I have a couple of days off, I’m always like, ‘Ooh, what’s within driving distance?’ If it’s six hours or less, I’m like, ‘Let’s go. Why not?’”
Fresh off of a recent desert road trip, Taylor-Joy—who has cemented her status as a fashion darling through ambassadorships with
@dior and
@tiffanyandco—is preparing for the release of Apple TV’s ‘Lucky,’ a thriller about a con artist caught in the fallout of a multimillion-dollar heist gone wrong. The role marks another chapter in a career spanning ‘The Witch,’ ‘The Queen’s Gambit,’ ‘Furiosa,’ and ‘Dune.’
In ‘Lucky,’ her character is pursued by the FBI and a ruthless mob boss while searching for something more elusive than freedom: stability. “I was so attracted to playing somebody who was just so desperate to stay still and put down roots,” says Taylor-Joy.
Filmed across the desert and inside Las Vegas’s Caesars Palace, the production left its mark. “I have a real soft spot for Caesars Palace now—we’ve been through a lot together,” she laughs.
