January 7th, I’ll be dropping my third poetry book. For the Lovers: A Hopeful Romantic

For years, it’s seemed as if nearly everybody just wanna be too tough. Lol. Deep down inside we know we all need love in some capacity to even survive in this world we live in.

As a man and artist, I’ve learned there is strength in vulnerability. There’s weakness in letting fear drive you away from what your heart really wants to express.

I’ve made the mistake of choosing to be cold hearted due to heartbreak, only to realize it’s much more strength and reward in keeping a pure heart even when the world you knew or thought you knew goes cold.

With that being said—
whether you’re single, in a relationship, married, stuck in a situationship,
or feeling numb to love right now… this book is for you.

For anyone still clinging to a piece of hope when it comes to love.

For the hopeful romantics.

This is for the lovers❤️

A few years ago, the idea to turn some of my poems into short films came to mind. This year, I began realizing that idea. In the past, I allowed the belief of not having all of the resources I needed to slow me down.

I could no longer allow that to be an excuse or hindrance, so I took a leap of faith and said I’d do everything on my own(with God).

I’ve been working diligently for a minute now on creating a short film out of a poem I wrote entitled “Quite the Artist” (written in 2021)

Written, scripted, filmed, audio recorded, and edited by me. I’m new to all besides writing but I am satisfied with how it turned out.

Although this is a poem I wish I didn’t have to write, I hope it changes someone’s heart and perspective.

September 28th, 2021, my/our beloved brother Cam was taken away by gun violence. Something that is plaguing our community on the daily.

This poem is a letter to those behind the gun, senselessly taking the lives of those in front of it.

This is also for the families who mourn.

For those gone too soon, may your light continue to shine.

I was 10 or 11 the first time I saw the cement stained. I hate to see just how popular that red paint has become. #shortfilm #cinema #poetry #explore #quitetheartist #delanteadaí #dividedwefall #brother #forevercam by @delanteadai

📍 Lane Library (Savannah)
📍 Learning Commons (Savannah)

Through many life experiences, all sorts of emotions, ups and downs, small-gradually increasing steps of faith, curiosity, delusional confidence, and so much more; this book came about.

Saved by the Spill by Drevon Harvey.

Written and edited by me. Written at a lake I would sit at to write or simply find a peace of mind as my family and I were going through much grief losing 4 loved ones in a year(2021). Along with just dealing with life in general.

Art work by me. Capturing the lake that I often sat at. The dark edit depicts how the world began to feel. Dark roaring waves that left us distraught. Feeling the dark waves were trying to swallow us whole, but even in the dark waves you can see there was light.

The title Saved by the Spill, at the time I figured meant saved by the spill of this inc pen that I used to express with what I knew was a God given gift/talent. The red letters represented blood, sweat, and tears. Maybe even parts of us that died.

About 2 years after this book was released(2022), my family and I sat at my grandfather’s funeral. His son/my uncle delivered the eulogy. During his powerful sermon about us saving our souls, I had a revelation. This book Saved by the Spill was deeper than I thought. Although I was onto something with my prior sentiments, the real Saved by the Spill was us/his children being saved by the blood that Jesus spilled.

With all of that being said, it’s even bigger than we can see. It’s much deeper than we think. No matter how great we think or know we are. We owe all of the Glory to God. What we build is much greater when we follow the Lord’s hand.

I do have copies on hand! Purchased directly from me copies will be signed and more money comes to me this way. Link is in my bio if you’d like to order via Amazon!

With this poem/series, a big part of my past(basketball🏀) collided with what’s been a big part of my life for the past 11 years(creative writing)

I was secretly writing for several years prior to 2014, but this was a time when deep pain led me to write in a completely different way. Tho deeper than I’ll say rn, a large part of this pain was attached to basketball and mental health. Through divine timing, I would grow to see it’s all been poetry in motion. Keep going. God says there is more to your story.
