From sceptical to evangelical: 6 takeaways after top London Orthodontist, Jeet Parekh switched on DentalMonitoring. He waited 2 years before he started and now here's what he has found...

1. Refinements fell from ~3 to ~2 per case. Less rework. Shorter chair time.

2. Therapist workflows click with remote prescribing. Clarity on next steps = fewer bottlenecks.

3. Weekly visibility beats 10-week guesswork. Small issues stay small when you see them early.

4. Capacity ≠ always full chairs. Free time lets owners fix systems, create content, and open new revenue streams. Check out the cool IG page where Jeet is showcasing his cases.

5. Catchment expands when visits drop. If patients don’t need frequent trips, distance stops being a deal-breaker.

6. Data wins debates. Track outcomes (starts, refinements, chair time, margins) and the business case sells itself.

Why this matters for London: costs are high, diaries are patchy, teams are stretched. The clinics that pair real-time oversight + simple protocols are getting control back and growing without adding chairs.

We are planning a small London roundtable with Jeet in Q1 on practical playbooks: fewer refinements, cleaner diaries, and case selection with Smart STL.

Happy Halloween

The only thing it got right was the size of my legs 😆 by @dentalmonitoring_ed

Me leaving through the roof after hearing someone say "we don't use monitoring in this practice"

48 of 62 braces patients got an alert between appointments.

That’s from Dr Claire Nightingale’s 2025 audit at Queen’s Gate Orthodontics. 33 came in early, before their routine visit. 11 were told they didn’t need to come in at all.

One patient had a wire digging into their cheek. There was already soft tissue trauma. They hadn’t noticed. Claire did.

The scan flags it. The clinician decides.

Fitted on a Tuesday. Two attachments gone by the first weekly scan.

Without DentalMonitoring, that patient walks back in 6 weeks later with an issue!

Dr Christopher Jordan @theorthodentist checks every ortho patient, every week.

On 30 November he’s showing you how:

*Real cases caught between visits
*Braces timed by the biology, not the calendar
*The protocol he uses
*No chair-time pitch. Just how he actually runs it.

Monday 30 November, 7pm UK, on Zoom.

Dr Dima Mobarak was that orthodontist who asked, ‘What’s the point in monitoring if they have to come in anyway?’ Here’s what changed her mind.

750 NHS patients onto remote monitoring in 3 months.

Dr Beth Richardson runs a fair-sized NHS contract at Basingstoke Orthodontics. Once her team could see what was happening with patients between visits, they found that at 12 and 14 weeks the archwires were still working. Therefore many of the appointments before these times weren’t needed.

Her emergency appointments did go up. Importantly she reads that as problems caught earlier, before they grow.

In her words, she couldn’t keep delivering the contract without that visibility.

Six clinic days a week, down to three.

She didn’t work faster. She stopped booking by the calendar.

Every patient got a goal. When the goal was hit, the prescription was written and the OT got an update. Eight-week goals came too soon for archwire passivity, so she moved to ten. Then she zoned her diary around monitoring alerts.

Her OT diary went from eight weeks booked out to two. Her stress is down. In her words, she can’t imagine working without it.

10-week wait for a routine fixed adjust!!
Now: NHS slots next week.

That's Dr Beth Richardson's diary in Basingstoke. She started DentalMonitoring in September 2025, with a 10-week wait for routine adjusts.

She checked her book just before our call. Routine fixed adjust slots for NHS patients, available next week.

The time it freed up went to private work, and private consultations got quicker access.

Same clinic. Same contract. Different diary.
