Some rehab myths are harder to kill than others. 💀

Good rehab isn’t about following one rule for every person. Symptoms, goals, diagnosis, training demands, and individual response all matter.

Have a safe and Happy Halloween from Desert Peak! 🎃

🎃 Shoulder rehab shouldn’t be scary.

Every shoulder is a little different, which means rehab shouldn’t look exactly the same for everyone.

The goal is to match the plan to the person—their symptoms, strength, mobility, goals, and what they need to get back to.

No tricks. Just individualized rehab. 👻💪

October is National Physical Therapy Month.

For us, PT isn’t about giving everyone the same exercise sheet. It’s about understanding what matters to the person in front of us and progressively preparing them for the things they want to get back to.

Running. Competing. Working. Golfing. Or simply moving with more confidence.

That’s what we’re building at Desert Peak.

Age is just a number, but power is a necessity! 💯

A common myth we bust in the clinic is that plyometrics are "too dangerous" for older adults or everyday patients.

The truth? Plyometric training is just rapid force production. We use it to help:
➡ Seniors react faster to catch their balance.
➡ Parents keep up with toddlers without knee pain.
➡ Athletes explosive power on the field.

It's not about how high you jump; it's about how well your body handles and produces force. Every age. Every level. 🔥

Most people think physical therapy starts after an injury.

But sometimes the goal isn’t getting someone back to normal.

It’s helping them stay at a high level before symptoms become a bigger problem.

For athletes and active individuals, small limitations in mobility, strength, recovery, or tissue tolerance can gradually affect performance long before they interfere with everyday life.

That’s where proactive recovery sessions can fit in.

The goal isn’t to chase pain.

It’s to maintain capacity, improve recovery, and keep doing the things you enjoy.

Six months ago he couldn’t walk normally. Now he’s learning to run, jump, pivot, and land. Progress is earned. Capacity is built. Recovery is a process. #postsurgeryrecovery #movebetter915 #orthopedicpt #achillestendon by @desertpeakpt

When people hear ‘70+ years old,’ they often assume slowing down is inevitable.

But goals don’t have an expiration date.

She’s working through knee issues, not by avoiding movement, but by gradually rebuilding strength and capacity.

Age changes how we train.

It doesn’t change what’s possible.

Every rehab plan should match the individual—not the number on their birth certificate. #movebetter915 #physicaltherapy #tendinopathy #kneerehab by @desertpeakpt

Think physical therapy is easy and boring? That’s what I thought…well think again!😅
Last week I shared my movement assessment at Desert Peak Physical Therapy after injuring my knee. As many of you already know, quitting has never been an option for me. This was my very first session, and it started with something I’d never experienced before—Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) Cuffs. Dr. Marco Suriano calibrated the cuffs to my blood pressure so I could safely train while using much lighter weights. He explained that this helps stimulate muscle growth more quickly while also providing an analgesic (pain-relieving) effect. Then the cuffs inflated…and the workout began!
I’ll admit it—I looked at the exercises and I thought, “Ooh easy!”
I was wrong😳😂!
By the end, I had a whole new respect for how challenging physical therapy can be. These are just a few of the exercises from Day 1, and Dr. Marco has already warned me that the weight and intensity will increase as the weeks go on.
I’m excited to share this recovery journey with you because getting stronger isn’t just about lifting heavier—it’s about rebuilding the right way and the safe way. Stay tuned for more sessions and let’s see what else I learn along the way.💪
Oh…another thing, it’s so weird to walk in those inflated cuffs😂! #goldengirl #fitnessover70 #physicaltherapy #neverquit #lifelongfitness @desertpeakpt by @desertpeakpt
