New to our community blog is a guest review of the Diamond Llama by Joshua Reach of @desertscrubmagazine.

He has spent almost a year with his Diamond Llama, including flying with it to Portland for the Made Bike Show where we got to see him and the bike for the first time since it left the factory. In his review, he covers the ride, the switch from 2x8 to a 1x10 setup for easier packing, the mods that made it his, and why the simple, readily available components make it easy to customize and maintain at his go-to bike shop. Find the link to our community blog in our bio.

Happy cycling,

Group ride mini feature 🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲 One of the many weekly rides I've fallen in love with here in the Phoenix area - Tempe Inclusive Pedaling (T.I.P.) 🤘

Read about it and see some snapshots from the past 2 years in Issue 6 😃

I've been a long time hater of the bicycle head unit for many reasons. High price, crappy UI design, laggy maps - the list goes on. Weirdly I decided to finally get one due to my phone overheating too much in the hot 110⁰ summer rides.

After way too much time researching these bike computers, I landed on the Wahoo Elemnt Roam 3.

Issue 6 has my deep and honest review of this thing, along with general ranting about these overall. I'm on the fence now that I've owned one for a few hundred miles of riding.

Issue 6 has my phone full review of this happy little bike I've been riding and flying with throughout the year - my @bikefriday Diamond Llama 💎🦙

After pondering the idea of purchasing a folding bike for almost 2 years, I was inspired by Danny of @phxfold and my many bike pals with their Bromptons (even trying some Bromptons). Then I landed on the decision to get a Bike Friday. 😅

Why? One word: customization. That and visiting the @bikefriday.tokyo shop last November to see how these happy little bikes can be customized to spectacular builds.

While I have a love and appreciation for Bromptons, Bike Friday's stole my cycling heart.

[OUT NOW] Issue 6, Fall 2026 a.k.a. The Quickie, is available now!

Issue 6 of Desertscrub is a quick one with two product reviews (including a full review of the Bike Friday Diamond Llama), a group ride feature, and extra photos since the summer issue.

This shorter 28 page Fall issue was something to get out rather fast due to possible time limitations the rest of the year. The Winter 2027 issue should be back to its glorious 64+ page size.

In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this one and to my fellow desert dwellers; welcome back to prime biking season. See y'all outside! 🚲🚲🚲🚲 ☀️

10/10 on the switch to flat bars for the Midnight Special 🤌 This is amazing.

Shout-out to Wyatt + @ragecycles for this setup. The Teravail bar is perfect!

[Cover Reveal] The next issue is just around the corner! Fall 2026 (Issue 6) will be a quickie with some reviews and a dive into one of my favorite little group rides. 🚲🚲🚲

This next issue is a short one due to the possibility of being out of commission on the bikes in the near future (just for a little while). Wanted to get something out before that happens. 😉

Issue 6 - launching the week of October 18th 🤘 by @desertscrubmagazine

Photographing some things for a quick Fall issue of the magazine 📖

Reviews will be the focus for this next one; like one of the Wahoo Elemnt Roam 3. This is my first bike computer after years of resisting these things. I have many thoughts, and some are actually positive around this 🤔

Side note: a shorter Fall 2026 (Issue 6) will launch in the coming weeks as I prepare for a very high likelihood of meniscus surgery, and will be off the bikes for quite a while. Stay tuned for the Desertscrub Quickie Edition™ 😅 by @desertscrubmagazine

A special treat for everyone who got a free copy of the magazine on tonight's ride: the trading card of @nolookatflash's fantastic Trek 6000 bike. 🤌

Thanks again Nicholas for the interview and allowing me to share your lovely bike to the community!

Read about it in Issue 5.

What if we just printed a video from the group ride?

A freak dust storm hit us on a @phxdowntemporide earlier in the summer and I didn't actually take photos, but instead took a ton of video. This spread in Issue 5 compiles some 4k stills of the power going out and the dust sandblasting everyone as we found shelter in George & Dragon on Central 😅

Man, I love monsoon season 🤌 by @desertscrubmagazine

Racing the storms. Enjoying the cooler 95⁰ weather. ⛈️🚲🤌 by @desertscrubmagazine

Issue 5 has a couple little snippets of group rides, including the @fullmoonbicycleclub ride in July 🌝

Absolutely love these rides. They're chill, fun, and even in the heat of the summer they're worth sweating through to see the moon rise.
