Rome v River Ridge | 2016 AAAAA State Champions 10th Anniversary Night

Making gameday graphics for @romecityschools this season has been nothing short of easy, but week by week, I’ve produced and resorted to using the same template and format as the week previously. Learning that Rome’s region face off on 10/23/26 was going to be dedicated to celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the 2016 AAAAA State Championship team, I knew I had to elevate my game.

With this graphic, I wanted a collage type feel with a heavy emphasis on 2016 nostalgia, featuring Rome memorabilia and other items essential for a gameday during the 2016 run.

Starting off, I began by creating a “champions” graphic that would feature the score and include a photo of HC John Reid and senior captains Jaylen Griffin (4) and Malik Davis (9).

Next, I created a graphic featuring a photo of So. QB Knox Kadum carrying the ball into the endzone off of a fake handoff on 4th & 2, thus forth slamming the door on title favorite Buford by extending the lead to 9 with only a minute left to play. To give the photo depth and character, a tri-tone gradient map was placed over Kadum, with the quote from the play-by-play commentator Larry Smith placed behind. The title of the game and the final score were both placed at the top and bottom respectively.

The final custom asset in the gameday graphic is a custom ticket stub from the game. GHSA does not offer game-specific tickets for State Championship games, nor do they print physical tickets, and with this in mind, the addition of a ticket from the AAAAA game would give the graphic feel even more personal. Specific number details in the ticket include:
“SEC 115” | A section of the Georgia Dome near midfield behind the Rome sideline
“ROW 20” | Marking the century in which football at Rome City Schools is taking its next steps
“SEAT 25” | Marking the 25th season of Rome Wolves football (2016) since merging with West Rome and East Rome to begin the 1992 season and school year
“PRICE $18.00” | The actual pre-sale price for a ticket into the 2016 GHSA Football State Championships by @designs.ft.den
