Thank you. Thank you for your contributions to Hip Hop and BEYOND.

Last night at the Hip Hop Evolution - Aaliyah Homecoming Celebration at Detroit School of Arts was beautiful. What you have done with your lens over the decades is priceless. You didn’t just take pictures, you preserved our culture. You documented the iconic moments, the behind the scenes, the soul of Hip Hop when many didn’t see its value. You are a true keeper of the culture and Detroit salutes you for it.

On a personal note, thank you for honoring ME and recognizing my journey during the Evolution of Hip Hop.

From 1988 to Present - It hits different.

It started as just a 19-year-old kid from the eastside with a vision. In 1989 I started doing Awards Shows, then Rap Tours, Artist Management and Promotion. No blueprint, just faith, hustle, and love for the culture. To have that vision recognized by someone like you, who literally lived and documented the evolution through your own lens, means more than words can express.

To be included in your Hip Hop Evolution Exhibit Experience alongside the celebration of our Princess Aaliyah’s legacy - I am humbled and grateful.

You saw me. You honored the work. That manifestation hits different.

Much love and deep respect to you, brother. Keep telling our stories.

With Gratitude,
Dr. Dave Bishop
