The importance of being intentional and deliberate with choosing Day 2s cannot be stressed enough. Your Day 1s kicked it with you in the sandbox and got it out the mud with you (shoutout to my muddies), but your Day 2s are going to help you fill any remaining gaps and support with becoming the person you need to be to achieve your goals.

Like most things, how you approach and manage it makes all the difference.

Choose relationships that align with you—to strengthen and serve you on your journey.

I’ve been in extra awe of you lately, mostly because I can see you maturing in real time. Your growth spurt, assuming responsibility without prompt, and the depth of our conversations; all signals to me of the beginning of your transition to young manhood. I am proud, full stop. One of the things I appreciate most about you is your ability to remain yourself—kind, curious, witty, and unadulterated joy. To bear witness to your being is one of the greatest joys of my life. So thank you, and Happy Birthday to you, my boy. Love, Daddy.

P.S. - My fault for choosing this picture kid, we gotta get you flicked up soon! 😂 by @dewanemutunga

Mason is 10 today. Such a kind, cool, and inquisitive soul. I love being able to be a part of your journey, to cultivate and bear witness. I can’t believe the time flew by so fast. One of the greatest joys of my life, in human form.

Happy Birthday, Pop‼️🤴🏾 by @dewanemutunga

This is the day this amazing soul graced us with her presence. I’m grateful. Regardless of what a given day brings, I always do my best to show her how much I appreciate her being.

She’s f**king incredible.

Happiest Birthday 🎈🥳 by @dewanemutunga

I’m a grown ass man, and I want to share my truth as I honor my father: I NEEDED this conversation from my father. I’m not too proud to say that. There isn’t a person walking this planet that could fathom what this moment meant to me. I don’t know why or how he knew to pull me in this moment to say what he said, but I’m grateful because it healed me in a way that I NEEDED—in a way that will bless me and the generations that come from me. Although this was an intimate moment between a father and his son, I want to publicly honor you and say…Thank you, Daddy. by @dewanemutunga

My Maci is 14 today. Grateful for all our moments. She teaches me so much; about life, about myself. Daddy loves you endlessly, my baby. This day is yours. by @dewanemutunga
