eek my first time in advanced finals🫣👀

I was very nervous, but it ended up being a blast! Loved the way we were able to tap into some goofy energy with this one and bring in the audience to laugh along with us🥰

a huge thank you to Lucas for such a fun dance🙏 (and for making all of us laugh with that “eyes glued to you” bit😆) and thank you to Flow Fest and all the attendees for such a fabulous and memorable event weekend💕

oh my goodness, how I love @choreocamp 😭 it’s easily become my favorite wcs event, filled with so much grit and love and hard hard work. @sean.and.alyssa do a magical job of creating a unique space to learn, grow and perform, it is truly like no other

If you know me, you know I love sad music, and boy do I love this piece 🥰 (like, fr, that one footed spin/almost-punch trick feels so cool to land😅) this run def isn’t perfect, but it’s the most comfortable I think I’ve felt dancing in front of people and that’s honestly my biggest win of the weekend🥹

A huge thank you to @ageeetar for putting up with me this weekend, you da best bro🙏 and a huge shoutout to all the incredible dancers I met this weekend, you are all absolutely insane and I love you all💕

Time for me to hop on the 2016 trend🫣😬 (tl;dr if you happen to have any pictures including me from 2016-2022, I would be so eternally grateful if you shared a copy with me🙏💕)

Okay so technicallyyyy this is Dec 2015, but that’s only because I actually have like zeros photos of myself from 2016-2022😢 In a cruel cruel turn of events in Dec 2022, my phone died an epic epic death and I lost absolutely everything on it: pictures, contacts, etc😭😭

So many high school and early Caltech memories were lost to cyberspace, it pains me deeply to know I no longer have those moments to look back on. The day I lost all those photos and videos, I grieved like never before 😔 like, I was actually sobbing at the Genius Bar, so sorry to the poor woman who was just trying to help get me a new working phone🙏

But anyways, I still have some videos of myself from the past, and luckily, this one in particular makes me smile. This is the first ever video I have of myself dancing! It’s from the beginner dance class I took on a whim as an elective in high school @presentation.hs . I had no idea this would be the start of a lifelong dance journey.

For years, I’ve been embarrassed of this footage: I think I look awkward, I was deep into my pixie/short hair era, hip hop was (and honestly still is) not my forte, and at the time, if I’m being completely honest, I thought I was so fat compared to the other dancers. But thankfully over time (and after giving myself a lot of grace), I’ve learned to look back on this video with admiration☺️.

I watch this back and realize how far I’ve come: I’ve learned so much, met so many other amazing dancers I’m now so lucky to call my friends, been introduced to so many other dance styles that I fell in love with. And this is one of the moments that started it all. How could I look back at this video and not love this past version of myself?

In many ways, I still am that awkward, wildly uncool teenager who flails about the studio trying to dance hip hop, but I love her🥰 Here’s to honoring past versions of ourselves and treating ourselves with kindness this year❤️ And oh 2016, how you are missed! by @diana.friasfranco

@swingcouver was for sure a weekend to remember 🤩 I loved getting to go back to Portland and see some old friends and make new ones🥰 Placing 2nd in Int strictly w Richard Zou and winning Int JnJ with @1moorekameron was the most special way to end my journey in this division 🙏 Thanks to all the dancers for all the conversations and dances we shared this weekend, and ofc a huge thank you to my friends and the @pghwcs community for your support in my dance journey❤️

Now please enjoy this long string of some fav clips from this weekend, including me knocking off Richard’s glasses mid prelims 🫣😆 by @diana.friasfranco

my very first spotlight final omg😅 I definitely couldn’t have predicted how nervous I’d be but I was so grateful to have @jplane246 out there with me to navigate it all! Loved the little musicality moments throughout this dance and those one footed spins at the end of it were just the icing on top🥰

thank you for your lovely connection and support on the floor john, you def helped quell my stage fright-nerves lol🙏 and a huge thank you to the Pittsburgh dance community, your cheers and support mean everything to me✨
