It only took me 4 kids to make my own purées🤪

While I absolutely LOVE giving my baby solids, sometimes a puree is quick, convenient and PACKED with nutrition.

Iron 🩸🥩🥬

➡️Essential micronutrient for kiddos brain development, immune function, and energy
➡️ at risk for deficiency after 6 months due to iron stores decreasing
➡️ introduce solids or purées at 6 months, focusing on iron rich foods (both plant based and animal based)
➡️pair iron rich foods with foods containing vitamin C to help with absorption 🫶🥩

This article within the @solidstarts app really helped me be prepared for introducing allergens to Betty.

Go to
➡️ Babies
➡️ Introducing Allergens
➡️ click on the article “Food Allergens and Baby”

My son had severe eczema as a child and my daughter has a fish allergy so I was extra prepared to introduce allergens this time around.

Allergen introduction is completed after the 3rd exposure✅

Betty’s 3rd exposure to peanut butter she had isolated redness and hives on her neck and jaw line. This would be considered a mild reaction (thankfully). I immediately stopped the feeding, washed her off, checked the rest of her body for hives/rash, and seeked medical attention.

Before introducing allergens, make sure you know the symptoms of a allergic reaction, introduce in very small quantities, and ensure you can be fully present during the introduction!

YAYYYY our solids journey has begun!!!

Baby led weaning has so many benefits👇🏼

✨ It gives babies opportunities to practice chewing and oral motor skills.
✨ It encourages self-feeding and hand-eye coordination.
✨ It lets babies listen to their own hunger and fullness cues from the very beginning.
✨ It exposes babies to a variety of textures, shapes, colors, and flavors, which can prevent picky eating later on!
✨ It allows babies to participate in family meals eating the same foods alongside family members
✨ It supports independence and confidence as babies explore food at their own pace

So far we have introduced 16 foods🙌🏼

The @solidstarts app has been a huge resource for me!

Whatever feeding route you choose, whether spoon feeding, BLW or a combo, what matters most is offering a variety of foods, creating a positive mealtime experience, and following baby’s developmental readiness 🫶
