Very Reverend Thomas J. Reitmeyer, JCL, serves as the vicar general and moderator of the curia for the Diocese of Austin. Ordained in 2015, he served as associate pastor of St. Albert the Great Parish in Austin and St. Joseph Parish in Killeen, then as pastor of St. John Vianney Parish in Round Rock and St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Austin. He earned a Licentiate in Canon Law from the Catholic University of America in 2022. "This position has changed nearly all my relationships — with my brother priests, parishioners, our bishop, diocesan staff, etc. It is not better or worse, just different and a bit disorienting. I am confident that with time and with patience on both sides, we will adjust." Read the full interview with Fr. Tom at the #CatholicSpirit link in bio. by @dioceseofaustin
Sinceramente en Cristo, Monseñor Daniel E. Garcia by @dioceseofaustin
Bishop Garcia invites you to join in celebrating the Jubilee Year of Our Lady of Guadalupe ——— My dear brothers and sisters, Pope Leo XIV has granted a Guadalupan Jubilee Year commemorating the 50th anniversary of the dedication of the new Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City. From October 12, 2026, through October 12, 2027, I invite all parishes, schools, families, and ministries throughout the Diocese of Austin to join together in prayer and renew their devotion to our Blessed Mother under the patronage of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Our Lady’s message to St. Juan Diego remains a source of hope: “Am I not here, I who am your mother?” In a world marked by uncertainty and isolation, her words remind us that we are never alone and call us to accompany one another with compassion, dignity, and love. The Diocese of Austin is blessed to have three parishes named in her honor, located in Austin, Taylor, and Temple. I encourage you to visit these sacred places and consider making a pilgrimage to the Basilica in Mexico City to honor Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas. As we prepare for our annual Our Lady of Guadalupe procession in Austin on December 5 and look ahead to 2030, when the universal Church will commemorate the 500th anniversary of her apparition to St. Juan Diego, let us use this time to prepare our hearts and communities for these special moments of grace. May this Guadalupan Jubilee Year unite us as one diocesan family, rooted in faith and committed to bringing the love of her Son, Jesus Christ, to every corner of Central Texas. Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas, pray for us! Sincerely in Christ, Most Reverend Daniel E. Garcia by @dioceseofaustin
Last week, healthcare professionals gathered with Bishop Daniel E. Garcia and the Catholic Healthcare Professionals of Central Texas to celebrate the annual Healthcare Mass at St. Theresa Parish in Austin. Following Mass, Dr. Joseph Dutkowsky presented a keynote address inspired by his book, "Healing Beyond Healthcare," and Fr. Francis Zlotkowski, CSC, received the "Good and Faithful Servant Award" in recognition of his dedicated service to the Catholic Healthcare Guild and healthcare professionals throughout the region. In his homily, Bishop Garcia reflected on the sacred calling of those who care for others: “We are not the masters of life. Rather, a unique and sacred guardianship is entrusted especially to you as physicians and to all who support you in this work.” by @dioceseofaustin
