A thirst trap it is. - Ventus Selch by @disisthancred

Meet Asher Hylfyst, son of Austin and Ardbert Hylfyst. He is a 16 year old red mage with special abilities and he becomes a l’Cie at a young age, putting a damper on his goals in life.
Like his father Ardbert, he has a love for fishing and for animals in general. Though due to certain circumstances, he was born with the power to summon a familiar and to transform into a Phoenix at will. He however occasionally loses control of his powers as a l’Cie when angry enough…and it’s usually his dad Austin who’s the only one that’s able to reason with him.
At the end of Endwalker, aged 21, he fulfills his Focus and crystallizes right before his parents’, grandfather’s (Thancred Waters), and his beloved’s (Estinien Varlineau) eyes. Though they grieve losing him for however long, they work restlessly together to find a way to free him from his terrible fate, that he may not have to sleep for eternity and can come home.

Asher was trained by his aunt Alisaie Leveilleur to wield a rapier at the age of 12, and at 13, received his very first one. This helped him channel his magical power into a much easier form, for it also allowed him to move more nimbly, which is an ability he lacked as a thaumaturge and nearly got him killed.

Though he is much more excelled in the arcane arts, he is determined to carry on his parents’ legacies in many other jobs, two of them being a bard and a dancer.

He’ll never be caught dead without wearing something red, mainly his shirts or his ruby red leather jacket.

All of his weapons are the Rubellux weapons. For not only because they’re red, but they help him keep his arcane energy in check while he fights.
