"If you want to go fast go alone. If you want to go far go together." READ THE FULL STORY 🌈⤵️

This African Proverb came up during an interview I had with a black owned event supplier and this really rings true to me.

Because it's true, if you want to have a deep and meaningful impact you need a collective to do that.

To be honest since the pandemic, like many others, I’ve experienced a lot of loneliness…

➡️ At the beginning of the pandemic I was made redundant and suddenly lost the support of work colleagues and a team to connect and share with.

➡️ I launched Diversity Ally during the pandemic and work was mostly online.

➡️ As an EDI consultant I share my own personal lived experiences as well as sharing others' personal experiences and I spend most of my time invested in reading and listening to other people's experiences.

➡️ Often being the only woman or woman of colour going into spaces with senior leadership teams or CEOs can feel like a lonely place.

This is why when I was brainstorming my new business - @diversity__alliance - I harnessed those experiences of being lonely to decide on the values and mission. @diversity__alliance signifies the importance of strengthening togetherness and how this can drive a positive and meaningful impact on our personal lives and the events industry as a whole.

So welcome to the world, Diversity Alliance!

The Alliance is about empowering each other, sharing knowledge and resources and supporting each other to drive the mission forward.

This is what the events industry needs more than ever to drive real change for EDI strategies and initiatives.

I am looking forward to sharing with you over the next couple of weeks the future of Diversity Alliance 🌈

From 2027, publishing your gender pay gap will no longer be enough.
Organisations will be required to publish a clear roadmap outlining how they intend to address it — not simply report the figures.
This is a significant shift.

It moves the conversation from reporting to responsibility.

Data creates visibility.
Action creates change.
For organisations operating in live events, media and communications, this raises important questions:

• Is your data clean and representative?
• Is leadership aligned on accountability?
• Are progression systems equitable?
• Is your strategy measurable and operationalised?

Because pay gap reporting is not a communications exercise.

It reflects commissioning decisions.

Promotion pathways.
Supplier selection.
Leadership sponsorship.
And the structure of opportunity inside your organisation.

In high-visibility industries, surface-level transparency is no longer sufficient.

Forward-thinking organisations are already embedding equity into systems — not waiting for regulatory pressure.

This is culture work.

And culture work is strategic.

At Diversity Alliance, we believe fair systems do not happen by accident — they are designed.

If you work in events, media or communications and are reviewing how equity is embedded into your organisation’s structure, this shift is worth paying attention to.

Events are meant to bring people together, but they can also amplify exclusion, harassment, and subtle power plays. On International Stand Up to Bullying Day, we’re reminded that we all have a role in creating safe, respectful spaces.

As an event professional, your decisions shape culture: the speakers you invite, the accessibility you provide, and the way you enforce codes of conduct. Every action — visible or invisible — signals what behavior is acceptable.

Preventing bullying isn’t just about policies; it’s about embedding accountability, respect, and kindness into your event DNA. That means clear reporting channels, robust moderation, and a culture where respect isn’t optional.

📢 Here’s what you can do right this minute: Identify one area in your next event where you can actively prevent bullying and share your commitment. Inclusion should always be actionable, not aspirational.

✨ Need support making it happen? Our DE&I training and consultancy helps organisations like yours ignite inclusive cultures. Through DE&I audits, hands-on training, and expert guidance, we help you understand bias, foster inclusive cultures, combat harassment, promote accessibility, and cultivate inclusive leadership. We’ve worked with organisations including the United Nations, Metropolitan Police, and Disney and we can help you create events where everyone feels safe, seen, and empowered. Amazing right?

📩 we can work together to ensure your events are not just memorable, but safe, inclusive, and impactful. DM us today to start the conversation.

No one ever tells you this. BUT! Inclusion in events can feel lonely, exhausting and endlessly defensive. You know the feeling where every proposal for diverse speakers, accessible spaces or inclusive agendas is met with resistance, skepticism or “we’ve always done it this way “ (we know it can be the same in the workplace too).

But your persistence shapes culture. Every seemingly small victory and your well thought out word choice in a brief, your insistence on accessible slides, your push for underrepresented voices. Signals to your team and your attendees that inclusion is non-negotiable.

✨ Inclusion isn’t a “box to tick.” It’s a series of deliberate, often invisible actions that, together, define your event’s DNA.

And YES it matters. People notice. Your influence ripples further than you think.

Pause today and recognise one invisible win you’ve made recently then share it. Your story is part of the change the industry needs 🔥

And if you want to take your impact even further, we’re here to be your DE&I partner. From strategic planning and messaging to venue audits, accessible programming, and diverse supplier sourcing, we guide you in creating events that truly celebrate and empower everyone. Think of us as your end-to-end ally, helping you deliver inclusive, accessible experiences that leave a lasting impression no matter the event size.

📩 Ready to elevate your events? Let’s work together to make inclusion part of your event’s DNA.

When you’re planning your next event, think about this: are you just filling rooms… or are you really thinking about who belongs, whose voices get heard, and what stories are being told? On World Day of Social Justice, it’s the perfect moment to ask yourself ➡️ are your events truly inclusive, or are some people getting left out without you even realising it?

I get it — budgets are tight, leadership moves slow and the pressure to deliver “perfect” events for your client never stops. Inclusion isn’t about perfection, it’s ALL about intention. The little choices you make from accessible registration, diverse speakers, thoughtful content... can add up to create a culture where everyone feels welcome and valued.

💡 Here’s a quick challenge for you: think back to your last event. Could one small tweak have made it more equitable? That tiny adjustment could be the difference between token gestures and real, lasting impact.

✨ If you want a support, that’s where we come in. Our Event Auditing service is like having a backstage pass to your own event — we attend as real participants and give you a full, honest report on what’s working, what’s missing, and how to make it more inclusive, accessible and equitable. From venue access to speaker diversity to the overall event, we give practical recommendations you can actually use.

📩 Here is what your next move should be: let’s make your events the kind of spaces where everyone belongs because it’s something you create, one choice, one event, one moment at a time.

“Are we sleepwalking into an ethical minefield?” Potentially...

That was the question we explored on The Meeting Room by Northstar UK’s M&IT Magazine @mitmagazine , diving into bias, consent and the hidden consequences of AI in events. The conversation hit hard because every AI tool making decisions for our events carries weight and if left unchecked, it can undermine months of DEIBA work before you even realise.

That’s exactly why we created the Ethical AI in Events Guide. It’s a practical roadmap for event leaders who want to:

✅ Spot bias before it affects attendees
✅ Build governance policies aligned with your values
✅ Ensure every attendee feels seen, included and welcome

No guesswork. No crossing fingers. Just clear frameworks, checklists and real-world examples for MICE professionals who care about real impact.

Because in an industry built on human connection, your AI should reflect humanity and NOT erode it.

You’ve heard this fact 👉 around 80% of events industry professionals are women. Yet their insights often aren’t fully leveraged and for Black female professionals, the gap is even wider. 85% know someone who’s faced microaggressions at work, and over half say real change hasn’t happened.

Progress isn’t about one-off initiatives it’s showing up differently every day. Listening, noticing which voices get heard, and creating space for those historically pushed to the margins.

That’s why Diversity Alliance exists. As a female and Black-owned consultancy, we champion Black female leaders through training, workshops and events, ensuring their voices are valued and elevated.

Stay tuned on events created by The Black Events Network as we just wrapped up our last event at The Strand Palace Hotel where we focused on a hands-on masterclass in personal branding, professional visibility, and career acceleration.

Because while #ChangeNeedsAllOfUs, sometimes we need spaces for Black professionals to claim or create their table.
What difference will you make this year?

This Valentine’s Day, please can we talk about a different kind of love.... it’s the kind of love we show to every single attendee, speaker and team member❤️

Inclusive events are allllll about creating experiences where people feel seen, heard and welcome. From accessible venues to thoughtful programming, every single detail matters.

For those of you who’ve been pushing DEIBA work alone, we see you. I know the emotional fatigue of advocating for change, balancing commercial pressures and trying to create meaningful impact. And yet, small, intentional actions can ripple out to profound results.

Today on Valentines Day, take a moment to evaluate your events: are your registration forms inclusive? Is your programming representative? Are voices from all communities included at the table?

Inclusion is better work. And when we embed empathy into events, everyone wins.

And everyone is in LOVE with your events 😍
