If you’ve ever wanted to recreate the bold, aromatic flavors of Thai cuisine at home, a new hands-on cooking experience in Fishtown is offering the perfect opportunity. This spring, guests can step into the kitchen at @dockstreetfishtown (1229 N. Front St.) for an immersive class focused on one of Thailand’s most iconic dishes: Green Coconut Curry & Rice.

Led by Chef Marc, this interactive experience blends culinary education with a fun, social atmosphere—ideal for date nights, group outings, or anyone looking to expand their cooking skills. You can reserve your spot on Eventbrite.

Designed for beginners and food enthusiasts alike, the class invites guests to “escape to the streets of Thailand” while learning the fundamentals of one of the country’s most beloved dishes. Participants will be guided step-by-step through the process of creating a rich, flavorful green curry—from building the paste to plating the final dish.

Along the way, Chef Marc will share insight into:

The cultural history of Thai cuisine
Traditional vs. time-saving techniques for curry-making
Essential knife skills
How to source fresh, seasonal ingredients and specialty spices
Whether you’re fully hands-on or prefer to observe and assist, the class is structured to be approachable, engaging, and informative.

Guests will learn how to prepare authentic Thai green coconut curry from scratch, including:

Crafting green curry paste (both traditional and simplified methods)
Cooking the curry with your choice of protein (chicken or tofu)
Pairing it with perfectly prepared rice
Vegetarian options are available, making the class accessible to a variety of dietary preferences

Classes will be held on select dates this spring:

Saturday, April 4 at 6:00 p.m.
Saturday, April 18 at 6:00 p.m.
Friday, May 15 at 6:30 p.m.
Saturday, May 30 at 6:00 p.m. by @dockstreetfishtown

PA Brewery Spotlight: @dockstreetbeer Celebrates 40 Years This Weekend

This Saturday, September 27th, Dock Street Brewing is raising a glass to celebrate 40 incredible years as Philadelphia’s first craft brewery!

Founded in 1985 by the trailblazing Rosemarie Certo, Dock Street has been proudly woman-owned and independently run since day one. What started as a dream to create full-bodied, innovative American beers has grown into a movement that helped shape the craft beer industry as we know it today.

Their name, Dock Street, pays homage to Philadelphia’s historic seaport district, which, back in the late 1700s, was the largest producer of beer in the newly formed country. 🇺🇸

In the words of its founder, Rosemarie:
“When we began brewing 40 years ago, there was no such thing as great, full-bodied American beer – you had to buy imported beer for that experience. Many thought the microbrewery concept wouldn’t work, but together with other pioneers, we proved them wrong. Today, our beers are enjoyed by the children of those who supported us from the very beginning. It’s been a fantastical, challenging, and fun ride – and I wouldn’t change a thing. Cheers!”

Join them this Saturday for a fun day of food, drinks, games, local vendors, a DJ, and plenty of fun activities as they celebrate 40 years of craft beer, community, and innovation.
