POSTS STORIES REELS

16 years, 2 careers, 1 diploma from Bulgaria 🇧🇬 and one badge left to go.

I started physio in 2010 as an 18-year-old: three years at Huddersfield and about 2,000 clinical hours on rotations across Huddersfield, Bradford and Leeds. After that I spent a year working as a physio. Then I moved abroad and went back to the very beginning: six years of med school in Plovdiv, locumming as a physio throughout to keep my foot in the door.

I came home in 2020, finished F2, locumed for a few years and went into GP training. If all goes to plan, I finish in May 2027 🤞🏽

So many exams, so many lanyards, and more coffee than I’d like to admit ☕️ Some years were really hard. But looking at all of these together, it honestly feels unbelievable that I’m here. Just one more badge to add… GP 🩺

Hey all 👋 — a reintroduction...

You might know me as a GP in training who’s also a physio, an IMG, and interested in 🌿 lifestyle medicine & *trying* to achieve a work-life balance here in Manchester ✨

I’m now GPST2, with just 5 months left until my final year… and yes, I’ve had plenty of “am I ready for this?!” moments 😅. But I always come back to why I started: to help, and to learn about how lifestyle medicine can go beyond treating symptoms 💬

Some of you have seen snippets of my “life lately” — ✈️ travel, 🏋️‍♀️ gym sessions, wedding 👰‍♀, 💡 motivation, and 🧘‍♀️ self-care. I’ll still share those, but I also want to share more of the real GP life: the cases, the decisions, and the growth 📈

Thanks for being here as I push through this last stretch 🙏

A little day in the life of a GP trainee👩🏽‍⚕️✨

Some days in general practice are really tiring 🤍

A full clinic, lots of emotions, difficult conversations, happy news, unexpected diagnoses, endless paperwork… and somehow a cup of tea that I keep forgetting to drink☕️😂

But despite the long days, I genuinely love what I do.

Every patient has a different story, and it’s a privilege to be trusted with even a small part of it. Some appointments are about treating illness, others are about listening, reassuring, or simply being there when someone needs it most. Today has been heavy on the admin and referrals, wonder what tomorrow brings ✨

Part 2 of my combined training series is here ✨ and it’s the one you’ve asked about the most: which evidence to collect and how to map it 📂

Quick recap of how it works: once you’ve ticked the box on Oriel, a section opens on FourteenFish. Step 1, you upload your CV and a short statement on why your experience should count, and it goes off for approval. Step 2, once it’s approved, you get full access to link your evidence to the capabilities.

For each post you’re counting, you’ll need a signed statement of employment from medical staffing and a job description. You’ll also add your CV, recent appraisal documents and any references or end of post reports. Then you reflect on all 13 capabilities, with 2-3 pieces of evidence for each one, like mini-CEX, CBDs, MSF, QI and teaching feedback.

From my experience as a locum, it’s so much easier if you collect feedback as you go and keep a folder for every post. Locum, trust grade or clinical fellow, the same tips apply 💛

Missed Part 1? It’s on my page.

Want my templates for the statement of employment and job description? Comment “TEMPLATE” and I’ll DM them to you 📩

Save this, and follow for Part 3: a deep dive on mapping your evidence 🔖 Drop me a DM too and I’ll help if I can 💬

Combined training ✨

So many of you have asked me about this, so I’ve split it into sections! Part 1 is all about whether your time counts and how to apply

When I came back to the UK in 2020, I did F2 and then locum work before starting GP training. What I didn’t realise at first was that those locum years could count towards my training 🩺

It’s called the Combined Programme (CCT (CP)). If you have 12 months full-time equivalent relevant experience above Foundation level in the 5 years before you start, it might be an option for you too. Non-training jobs like locum, trust grade and clinical fellow posts can count if they’re relevant and you can evidence them.

If you’re applying for August 2027, Round 1 on Oriel closes on 19 November at 4pm, and the CCT (CP) question is part of that application, so don’t miss it 💛

Save this, and follow for Part 2: documentation and mapping evidence 🔖 Drop me a DM and I’ll help if I can ✨ 💬

You never quite know what the day will bring as a GP 🩺

In one day I can see everything from coughs and colds to skin rashes, mental health, medication reviews, babies, long-term conditions and lots in between. Some appointments take six minutes and some need a lot more time. That variety is what I love most about general practice, and also what makes it so tiring some days 😅

As a GP trainee, every clinic teaches me something new, and I’m so grateful to the patients who trust us with their stories 💛

Save this if you’re thinking about GP, and follow for more real days as a GP trainee

Dark mornings are back 🌥️ so here’s what I wish my patients knew about vitamin D. The NHS suggests 10 micrograms a day from October to March, and some of us need it all year round.

Low vitamin D can be easy to miss. It can show up as aching bones, muscle aches or weakness, and feeling more tired than usual, though lots of people have no signs at all. These can have other causes too, so if something doesn’t feel right, have a chat with your GP rather than guessing.

In a 10-minute appointment I rarely get time to go over general health tips like this, so follow for more of the things I wish I could shout about in clinic 🩺

Save this for the dark mornings, and comment D and I’ll send you the NHS link 💛

This is general info, not medical advice, so speak to your GP or pharmacist about your own situation.

Autumn vibes this week 🍂🍁🤎

Coffee shops really do bring out a whole new level of productivity ☕️✨

And I have to mention how much I love being a girl 🥹 Had a few lovely compliments this week and it’s reminded me how much the little things can brighten someone’s day!

So here’s your reminder: if you love someone’s outfit, hair, makeup, whatever it is… TELL THEM!!

Girlhood is so lovely sometimes 🫶🏽✨

What does a GP actually manage in one day? 👩🏽‍⚕️

In the space of one clinic you can go from women’s health → mental health → a poorly child → chronic disease → something you’ve genuinely never seen before 😭

And these are only the patients on the appointment list — there are still results to review, prescriptions, referrals, letters, phone calls and all the little jobs happening in between.

Small changes at 34, because the goal is prevention ✨

GETTING STRONGER 💪🏽

Muscle mass naturally declines as we age.
Strength training now = investing in future mobility, bones and independence.

MOVE🚶🏽‍♀️

Not every workout needs to destroy you 😂
Walking counts. Taking the stairs counts. Moving throughout the day counts.

FOOD 🥗

More fibre. More fruit & veg. More protein. More whole foods.

Rather than spending my life cutting everything I enjoy out.

KNOWING MY NUMBERS 🫀

Blood pressure. Cholesterol. Blood sugar — when appropriate for you.

Some of the biggest risk factors for future disease can be completely silent!

SLEEP 😴

Sleep is part of looking after your health — not something you earn once everything else is finished.

This one I am VERY much still working on 😂

NOT AIMING FOR PERFECT

Your health isn’t decided by one meal or one week.

It’s what you do most of the time, for years.

#consistencymatters

You can make one small change for next week!

If you are undecided on doing LTFT … highly recommend ✨

I really struggled to manage GP full time AND the portfolio expectations with a 1-2 hour commute. I’m glad I pushed through the first two years as a full time trainee, but I think the Obs and Gyn rota almost finished me 😂
