POSTS STORIES REELS

Our stories were never just about surviving. Our stories are of building, dreaming, reclaiming, becoming.

Watching Bad Bunny say, “we’re not animals, we’re not aliens, we are humans…” it echoed the same truth I felt standing on the Hispanic Convocation stage and that claiming our voice, our brilliance, our humanity is an act of power.

When one of us crosses a stage, earns the title, finds their voice, it is never a solo win. It carries parents who made sacrifices, families who crossed borders, mothers who advocated, grandmothers who worked in the fields, y families who prayed, hoped and fought like hell for moments like that.

Our education is a collective return on generations of courage. When one of us rises, possibility rises with us.

Our triumph is testimony. Our stories are blueprints.

A clip before the claps. My brother took this video. My mom and nana at my dissertation defense... My nana 94 y/o and my momma, an educator of over 30 years. So fucking grateful to have been able to share this moment with them. Who I am informs everything I do. Mexicana everywhere and in every space. Hoops to add the sauce and my Momma got me this hand embroidered top in MX 🇲🇽♥️🙏🏽😭🥳 #CallMeDoctoraLopez #Generaciones #Doctor #SiSePudo #Familia #academicmujeres #chingonas #chingona #Gradschool #educatedlatina #dissertation #dissertationdefense #latina #mami #sisepuede #grateful by @doctora.lopez

I’ve done a lot in my life between juggling hobbies and jobs but nothing will ever compare to being a Mom. Nothing has ever been more meaningful, difficult, challenging, fulfilling and rewarding. I love my babies so so very much and am so grateful to be their Mami!

Historic Firsts and a heart full of hope! Representation matters, and so do the journeys, education, and lived experiences these women bring to leadership. Here’s to more firsts, but certainly not the lasts. 💙

Election Night watch party, group chats, updates, and victories across the country….what a night! Feels like a deep smiley inhale and, exhale too.

Some races are still too close to call, but tonight we celebrate the wins, the historic firsts, the scientists, the advocates, and the generations of organizing, and collective action that made these moments possible.

Representation alone is not liberation but it really matters, especially now and in this way. The work continues. 💙

Election Day and something worth reflecting on…

In 1920, the 19th Amendment established nationwide constitutional protection against denying U.S. citizens the vote because of gender. That protection included Mexican American women, but it did not erase the racial discrimination, citizenship restrictions, or language barriers that continued to limit access to the ballot. It would take decades of organizing before the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and its expansion in 1975 began more directly confronting the racial discrimination and language barriers that excluded so many of our communities.

And here we are, in 2026… in April, the Supreme Court’s decision in Louisiana v. Callais narrowed how Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act can be used to challenge electoral maps that dilute the political power of communities of color.

The Voting Rights Act itself is not on today’s ballot, but the people we elect and, in some states, the policies we vote on will help shape the future of voting access and political representation.

I think about our nanas and the women whose voices were silenced, whose political power was underestimated, and whose resistance won’t make it into our history books. Women who understood, long before the law acknowledged it, that their voices mattered. They still do.

Rights are not the same as access and progress is not the same as permanence. Voting is not just an individual act. It is connected to generations of collective struggle, sacrifice, and resistance. So today, we vote with history in our hearts and the future in our hands. 🙏🏾🫶🏾

Shared stories about my Nana’s life, poems, the story of my Nanas funeral (and a very quick bit about seeing my dad there, his GF and the drama lol…) and space with folks in the room who had also experienced loss. This is just a sped up snippet of the Storytelling event at @mesaartscenter I cried…a lot, giggled and held hands with strangers who shared stories or their Nanas too. Thank you again @manifestingmo___ for inviting me to do this. 🥹🙏🏾

Hoy celebramos sus vidas, pronunciamos sus nombres y les hacemos espacio entre nosotros. Porque mientras los recordemos, nunca se van del todo.

…and in every story, every memory, every piece of who I am, I will always be holding my Nana.

Nana ♥️🥺♥️

Grief is such a strange thing.
A heart overflowing with gratitude,
y un alma que no deja de extrañarte.

How beautiful to have loved you this much.
How painful to love you from here.

Y qué privilegio, Nana,
llevarte conmigo
aunque ya no pueda abrazarte.

Over the past year, my dear friend @orlandopelagio and I both experienced the profound loss of our matriarchs. Two extraordinary women whose beauty, strength, and love continue to live through us. In their honor, we wanted to create something special, something that celebrates the women who came before us while preserving our own beauty for the generations yet to come.

Together, we’re creating an intimate vintage portrait experience. An opportunity to get dressed up, embrace our beauty, and capture a little piece of ourselves in a timeless photograph. Because one day, we too will be the women in the photographs our loved ones treasure.

📷 November 17 | 5–9 PM
📍 Afternoon Studios- Phoenix, AZ
🖤 $200 | 30-minute portrait session

The first 10 women to connect with me via DM will secure a spot! Additional sessions may be added depending on interest.

Con amor, para nuestras matriarcas. @orlandopelagio 🖤🥀

My amiguisss @orlandopelagio and I have been plotting something special. A little nostalgia, a little magia, honor y cariño. Some stories are too beautiful to be forgotten. Mañana, we spill the chisme. 🖤

Reposting this from earlier this year, in her honor, always. What a year…She shared her story, galvanized survivors to share theirs and all on time. Guerrera, QEPD 🕊️🤍

I come from a small border farm town where the fields were part symbol, part survival and part of my momma and nana’s hands. We were raised with stories from the field and stories still held in silence to be sure…

In our town, we learned early not to pedestalize Cesar Chavez. We didn’t have the language for why, but we knew enough to recognize that truth is rarely singular. With time, that knowing deepened…The movement mattered, it created pathways, protections, and possibility. But we were also raised, quietly and collectively, to understand that movements are not beyond critique. The experiences of those who were harmed in its making matter too. Those stories are not contradictions, they are part of the full record.

I hold deep respect for Dolores Huerta, who not only helped BUILD that movement but gave it one of its most enduring affirmations, “Sí, se puede.” An affirmation that personally, helped me through so much. Her strength has always been evident, and her truth-telling reminds us of the conditions that have long demanded silence from women.

My hope is that we can resist the urge to flatten history into comfort and that we can extend care and grace to those whose stories have lived too long in the shadows. 😔♥️

Si se puede.
