Get to know me! Here are 10 things about me. ‌ 1️⃣ I am 56-years-old & live in Florida. I’m of Filipino 🇵🇭 descent, and (proud) 1st generation American. 🇺🇸 2️⃣ I was born in Virginia. My dad was in the military and as a child we lived in Hawaii & Florida. As an adult, I also lived in Alabama & Arkansas. 3️⃣ I met my husband when I was 34. We’ve been married for over 20 years. He’s my best friend & I’m thankful for him. He was worth the wait. 😍 4️⃣ I never had kids of my own, but I have 2 wonderful step kids & 2 of the best granddaughters & furry grandpups - love them so much. 5️⃣ My dogs have always been my furry kids. Over the years, saying goodbye to them when they passed has truly crushed & broken my heart. The grief is so intense. 🌈💔 I truly believe, dogs are God’s gift. 6️⃣ I used to 🙄 when I heard people say things like, “𝚈𝚘𝚐𝚊 𝚌𝚑𝚊𝚗𝚐𝚎𝚍 𝚖𝚢 𝚕𝚒𝚏𝚎!” Now I’m one of THOSE people. 😂 My mission as a yoga teacher is to use the power of yoga to help others live an empowered life - on and off their yoga mats. 7️⃣ Throughout my life I’ve had many career changes. I’ve worked in education, hospitality, technology, supply chain management, banking & I’ve had prestigious titles like “Vice President”. I believe I was always meant to be a teacher. 8️⃣ I was a vegetarian for 11 years, for many reasons. Now, I eat all kinds of meats again and I truly believe adding it back into my diet has healed me. 9️⃣ Paddleboarding is not just a hobby for me, it’s my 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧. My board is like a magic carpet and it’s there where I feel most at peace and connected with myself and the world. 1️⃣0️⃣ I don’t care about your politics, whether you go to church, if your lifestyle is different than mine, or any other dogma you may believe in. What I care about is that you are KIND. 💖 ‌ *️⃣𝗕𝗢𝗡𝗨𝗦: I believe strongly that the ONLY way toilet paper should be hung, is over. 🧻 If you don’t agree, you’re wrong & you will NEVER change my mind on this.🤪 ‌ ❓Can you relate to any of this? ❓Share with me something about yourself you’d like me to know! ‌ #aboutme #gettoknowme #yogateacher #dogmom #paddleboarding #justbekind #animalbased #10factsaboutme by @donnasfitlife
I’ve traded cakes for steaks! 🎂🎂🎂 ⏩️🥩🥩🥩 ‌ A #facetofacefriday photo of how I celebrated my birthday 5 years ago vs. how I celebrated in 2023. ‌ If you’re new to following me, you may not know I was pretty unhealthy and unhappy a few years ago. I decided I had enough and started this Instagram page to keep me accountable & inspired and to document my progress. ‌ After being a vegetarian for 10+ years, I was miserable. I was in constant pain, my weight was at an all time high and I felt like crap. After LOTS of reflection & research, I came to the conclusion my body needed more protein so I decided to add animal protein back in. Right away I felt better. Soon after, I began a keto diet & I lost 35 lbs. of body fat. ‌ On a keto diet, I focused on keeping my net carbs under 20g. Over the past year I began leaning more towards an animal-based diet, cutting back on “keto treats” and keeping my total carbs to 10g or less. ‌ After learning about & hearing what seemed like miraculous success stories of HEALING with a carnivore diet, I decided to experiment with it for 30 days. I couldn’t believe HOW MUCH better I felt so I kept going 90 days. My hormones began to stabilize and my menopausal symptoms went away. Aches & pains I thought were just part of “getting older” disappeared and for the first time in my life, I SLEEP so well! ‌ Since the 90-day experiment, I’ve kept animal based, focusing on real, whole, minimally processed foods. With January being 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡, I plan to go back to being strict carnivore for 90 days. ‌ I’m NOT trying to talk you into this way of eating. If what you’re doing works for you, keep at it and know that I’m truly happy for you. ‌ I want to thank those who have shared their stories because YOUR stories have inspired me. Now, I will share mine because maybe you’ll relate and maybe my experiences will help you. Stay tuned. ‌ Wishing you good health and a life full vigor and vitality in 2024. ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ #ketodiet #lowcarbdiet #carnivorediet #lowcarblife #meatbaseddiet #steaksovercakes #fatfueled #formervegetarian #meatheals #animalbased #animalbaseddiet #carnivorewomen #carnivoreover50 #facetofacefriday by @donnasfitlife
How to get back on your Stand Up Paddleboard for if and when you fall off.💦 ⠀ When people first start paddle boarding, they are most concerned with NOT falling off. As a certified SUP instructor, I’m here to remind you that it is just as important to learn and practice getting back on. ⠀ Regardless of how good you are at paddling and how much experience you have, things happen and EVERYONE falls off at some point. Most people paddle in water that is over their heads so it’s critical to know how to get back on your board, quickly and safely. ⠀ Here is one way of getting back on your SUP on the side of your board. I find this easiest so I don’t have to maneuver over any gear that may be on the front or back of my board. ‌ 𝗣𝗥𝗢 𝗧𝗜𝗣: Always wear your leash! This provides a constant tether to your board so it won’t float away. And if you aren’t able to get back on your board, you’ll at least have support in keeping you a float until help arrives. ⠀ Have you ever fallen off your paddle board? Do you practice getting back on? Now that the weather and water is warming up, it’s a great time to practice! ⠀ Let me know in the comments if you find this helpful and if there are any other tips or tutorials I can share that would be helpful. ⠀ Stay safe, so you can have fun!🤩🏄🏻‍♀️🤙🏼 ⠀ ‌ ‌Shorts: @waterlust Hat: @waterlust SUP: @irockersup #suplife #standuppaddleboarding #paddleboardingtips #supsafety #alwayswearyourleash #supgirl #supinstructor #staysafe #supflorida ⠀ ‌ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ by @donnasfitlife

🌊 My kind of therapy. 💙 I’m still navigating life after losing my dad, and some days the grief hits harder than others. Between missing him, worrying about my mom, and everything that still needs to be taken care of, I’ve been struggling to make time for myself. I’m doing the best I can, but I’m learning that taking care of myself is just as important as taking care of everyone else. ❤️ Getting on my paddleboard and spending time with my friend Lise was exactly what my heart and mind needed. A little sunshine, fresh air, friendship, and time on the water. ☀️🏄‍♀️ Whatever your kind of therapy looks like, I hope you make time for it, too. 💕 What’s something that helps YOU find peace when life feels overwhelming? #MyKindOfTherapy #Paddleboarding #SelfCare #GriefJourney #LivingFitAgingPowerfully by @donnasfitlife
It’s been a while since I’ve shared here. 💜 After losing my dad, I needed time away from social media to grieve, reflect, and reset. Sometimes life reminds us just how precious our time really is. Now, as I get ready to turn 60, I’m embracing a whole new chapter! ✨ My husband Tom and I are reimagining retirement, exploring a future move to The Villages, Florida, and discovering new ways to live fit and age powerfully. I’m excited to reconnect with you, share our journey, and inspire others to embrace life after 50 with purpose, adventure, and joy! Here’s to new beginnings and making the most of every chapter! 💜 Have a fit and fabulous day! ✨ #DonnasFitLife #Turning60 #LifeAfter50 #HealthyAging #TheVillagesFlorida by @donnasfitlife
