Excited to share my DEXA scan results from earlier today. I'm down to 17% body fat, and have lost more than 45 pounds since I started focusing on my health. Still have many goals to achieve, but I'm proud of the progress I've made. #gaydads #texas #mensfitnessmotivation #fitnessmotivation #fitness by @dotairhealth

Health Myth Monday, Vol. 2: Do “fat-free” and “sugar-free” automatically mean healthier? Not necessarily. Let’s look beyond the marketing claims and talk about what these labels really mean.
Shout-out to Randy for suggesting this week’s topic! What health myth should I cover next?

Stop Chasing Superfoods 🌈

I used to spend way too much time watching YouTube videos about the latest "superfood."
Blueberries. Chia seeds. Kale. Turmeric. Avocados.
I was convinced there had to be one magical food that would unlock perfect health.
The truth? There isn't.
Don't get me wrong—those foods are all nutritious. But no single food is going to make or break your health.
Instead of asking, "What's the healthiest food?" try asking:
"How can I build a healthier overall diet?"
That's where the real results come from.
🥦 Eat a variety of colorful fruits and vegetables.
🥩 Prioritize high-quality protein.
🥑 Include healthy fats.
🚫 Cut back on ultra-processed foods.
Nutrition doesn't have to be complicated. You don't need exotic powders or $20 imported berries.
You just need to consistently eat a wide variety of whole foods you actually enjoy.
What's one "superfood" you remember everyone talking about?

"My metabolism is broken."
We hear that phrase all the time—but for most people, the story is more complicated.
As we get older, metabolism can slow somewhat, but often the bigger changes come from losing muscle, moving less, sleeping poorly, sitting more, and dealing with more stress.
The encouraging part? Many of these factors can improve.
In this video, I talk about:
✔️ Strength training
✔️ Protein
✔️ Daily movement
✔️ Sleep
✔️ Building habits that last
Your metabolism may be more adaptable than you think.
Watch the full video and let us know: What healthy habit has made the biggest difference for you?

Not all belly fat is created equal.
The fat around your organs—called visceral fat—is linked to a higher risk of diabetes, heart disease, fatty liver disease, and other metabolic conditions.
The surprising part? You don't have to look overweight to have too much of it.
In this video, I explain why visceral fat matters, how you can reduce it, and why tracking body composition (not just your weight) can completely change the way you measure progress.
One of the most encouraging moments in my own health journey wasn't seeing a lower number on the scale—it was seeing my visceral fat move from an unhealthy range into a healthy one on my DEXA scans.
Watch the full video and let me know what surprised you most.

Happy Fourth of July from Dotair Health! 🇺🇸 by @dotairhealth

For years I thought I was eating healthy...
Protein bars.
Healthy cereals.
Low-fat snacks.
Packaged foods with health claims everywhere.
The problem? A lot of it was still highly processed.
One of the best changes I ever made was focusing more on whole foods:
🥩 Beef
🍗 Chicken
🥚 Eggs
🐟 Seafood
🍎 Fruit
🥦 Vegetables
Simple usually beats complicated.
If you're trying to lose weight or improve your health, start with real food.
Consistency beats perfection every time.

Walking is massively underrated.
You do NOT need extreme workouts to improve your health.
I aim for at least 10,000 steps daily, usually while drinking coffee and getting morning sunlight ☀️
Simple habits like walking consistently can help with:
✔️ Weight loss
✔️ Stress
✔️ Energy
✔️ Heart health
✔️ Building better routines
Most people overcomplicate fitness.
Daily movement matters more than most realize.
Consistency > perfection.
