POOR SPORTSMANSHIP In combat sports where do we draw the line? When do we define a bit of showboating as blatant disrespect? Sports that carry heavy tradition and culture such as Muay Thai and Kun Khmer stood out because of the emphasis on honour and respect, but in recent times these values have started eroding. We are meant to be martial artists - not thugs. Trash talking, dangerous fouls, illegal holds, disrespect towards referees, opponents, trainers and officials, disrespect after the bell, and unprovoked attacks seem to be a growing problem in recent times. It’s about time that we as professional athletes, promoters, officials and fight fans start calling out this behaviour. Do we fight our opponents because we hate each other or do we fight our opponents because we love the sport? Clear boundaries need to be set and poor sportsmanship be it from fighters or their teams should be penalised. My opinion: Anyone displaying this kind of behaviour should be subject to suspension from competition and attending events for 3-6 months. Building up a fight with some back and forth to sell tickets is one thing, but once that final bell has been rung it should be nothing but respect. #martialarts #muaythai #kunkhmer #respect #sportsmanship by @doug_kunkhmer

Very sad news received today. Long term member of @derrimut247geppscross Alan Knight has passed away at 91. In his late 80’s he was always at the gym, training, being friends with all other members, always had a smile on his face and always had time for everyone. He lived a full on life playing soccer professionally and serving in the Air Force in his younger years, and always had that old man wisdom and witty humour to share in his chats. As crazy as it sounds he was so fit and heathy, I honestly thought he was gonna live forever. RIP Alan, absolute legend! Alan Knight 1934-2025 by @doug_kunkhmer
