At this point of the set I’m playing rhythm while @dr.dzeha plays lead. A lot of times we are told to go with the drums during these breaks. So knowing how Eric plays I know that he’s most likely doing a chug on the lower end for the dropout. My thought process is to arpeggiate on the higher end while he does that to add. Almost like we switched places. But once this moment is done I fall back into playing the chords to allow him to jump back into leading.

I’ve realized us guitarists (this is including me) have itchy fingers but being a rhythm is just as important as the lead. Doesn’t mean you can’t play 😅. It’s all a part of the music. When playing with another guitarist you have to listen and be mindful of the them or things will go south quickly. When I play I’m always looking for what’s missing and how can we make things sound more full. I like to listen to the other guitarist’s tendencies so I can be a compliant to them. That’s why in this situation with Eric, we don’t always have to say something to the other. We just listen and know because we learned how the other plays.

There are a lot of situations/gigs that want two guitarist. Just takes discipline to stick to your part and this will make other musicians want to take the risk and have both on board. Maybe even more.

It’s dope looking back at these moments. Everything happens so fast you honestly forget them. Especially when they’re spontaneous like this. But it’s always great coming together with the guys. As you can see it’s full of fun, laughs, encouragement, music, and bonding. But also there are moments of vulnerability, accountability, prayer and making an atmosphere for people to worship in, including ourselves. I feel all of those things together are necessary when developing a sound. Especially when it’s for God.

Also @kofi_dartey don’t hate us. We just think you’re a cool guy 😂✊🏾🙏🏾
