Root cause medicine will always be THAT girl

A patient of mine came in wanting help with their period cramps because it was negatively affecting their life. They would have to call in sick to work and miss social engagements every month because of this.

Their family doctor said this was genetic because their mother had it and to just take strong painkillers when in pain. Before seeing me, this patient was using raspberry tea, making ginger shots and taking magnesium to help their period pain and it did nothing substantial.

And that was because they were missing addressing the major root of period pain- high inflammation.

Their lifestyle actions like the foods they were eating and the emotions they were suppressing was creating this high inflammation response. So yes the pain killers would somewhat work when she took them but that’s only because it was turning off the signal. It wasn’t lowering the entire response all together.

We worked on cleaning up their diet, learning how to work through their emotions when they came up and optimized their digestive system with some herbs to lower her overall inflammation.

And within 2 cycles, their period pain went down to 3
2/10, no pain killers needed.

When you address a major root cause to your symptoms, healing and long term change is possible ❤️

What have you tried to help your period cramps? Let me know in the comments

Your labs can look “normal” and your body can still be struggling😩

When women come into my practice feeling this way, it usually tells me the right hormones weren’t tested and that their symptoms ARENT “just aging”

This is the work I do: helping women understand what’s being missed, what it actually means, and how to support their body properly instead of being dismissed.

Share this with your girlfriends who’ve been told “everything looks fine” but don’t feel fine ❤️🙏🏽 by @dr.steffed

Your womb responds to the life you’re living🫣
Not the one you pretend is “fine”

The late nights
The stress you downplay
The emotional weight you carry in silence

Your hormones are listening
Your fibroids are listening

Most women, ESPECIALLY Black women, are told fibroids just “happen”…which leaves them believing there’s nothing they can do.

But this IS NOT true and there is a different way.

My new Fibroid webinar is coming soon:The Biggest Mistakes Women Make When Trying to Heal From Fibroids

Comment “Waitilist” to join so you don’t miss it.

Less chaos. More clarity. A different path forward.

“I eat healthy. I haven’t changed anything. So why am I gaining weight in my 40s?”
I hear this from women ALL the time

And often, when we look a little closer, there’s a lot more going on than they realize.
It’s not only about what you’re eating

It’s how much you’re eating, how you’re sleeping, the stress you’ve gotten so used to living with and what your bloodwork may be missing.

I helped a 43-year-old woman go down a pants size in 3 months by looking at the bigger picture and building a plan around what SHE needed.

Because the answer isn’t always to eat less and work out harder.

You need to know what to work on in the first place.

If you’re tired of trying to figure it all out yourself and want an individualized plan for your health, I’d love to work with you.

Your iron might not be “normal” like your doctor said 👀

Iron is something I test in every patient I work with because it’s one of the most overlooked issues I see in women’s health

About 80% of women who come into my practice have low or suboptimal iron levels, yet so many have been told their bloodwork is “fine”

🙅🏽‍♀️Normal doesn’t always mean optimal 🙅🏽‍♀️

Iron plays a BIG role in your energy, mood, hair, skin and ability to think clearly

👇🏽👇🏽Here are some symptoms that can be linked to low iron:

Hair loss and breakage
Feeling cold often
Cold hands and feet
Feeling tired regardless of how much you sleep
Pale skin
Dry skin
Dark circles under your eyes
Brain fog
Heart palpitations
Shortness of breath after walking up stairs
Feeling lightheaded when you stand up quickly
Seeing stars or silver spots in your vision
Depression or anxiety after giving birth
Low mood
Anxiety
Symptoms that may be mistaken for thyroid issues

I’ve had countless patients feel SO much better after we worked on their iron. Many couldn’t believe they had lived with these symptoms for YEARS.

And this is why I’ll talk about low iron AD NAUSEAM! Because too many women are still being overlooked.

🤎 Share this with your girlfriends and follow along

I ‘ll continute to talk about iron and what your bloodwork might be missing 🤓

Just because something is common doesn’t mean it’s normal 🙅🏽‍♀️

I’ve worked with over 1,000 women and soooo many have spent YEARS being told their symptoms are just part of being a woman or getting older.

But your body is interconnected. Your hormones, gut health, nutrition, sleep and stress all influence how you feel.

And two women with the exact same symptoms may need completely different approaches.

That’s why figuring out WHY you’re experiencing these symptoms matters.

You don’t have to keep guessing or trying everything you see online.

One of the biggest frustrations I hear from women in perimenopause is being told their symptoms are just part of getting older.

But no one actually explains WHAT is changing in their body or what they can do about it.

And yes, we have Google, Ig, TikTok, chat GPT, the list goes on....

There is more health information available than ever before.

BUT how are you supposed to know what to search for when you don’t even know what’s happening in your body? And once you find something, how do you know what to trust?

This is where I come in as a naturopathic doctor.

My job isn’t just to tell you what to do. It’s to help you understand what’s happening in your body, what your symptoms and bloodwork may be telling us and what we can actually do to support your health.

Because you deserve more than being told everything is normal or that it’s just your age.

Brain fog is a b…

It’s one of the most common things I see in women 35+

And almost every one of them has the same story… labs came back “normal,” doctor said it’s just aging, case closed…

Except nothing feels closed.

When I work with these women and actually dig in to the why, I see common patterns that repeat itself:

❌Iron nowhere near where it should be

❌B12 tanked

❌A body that hasn’t properly recovered in years

If your brain feels like it’s buffering( or on dial-up I know y’all will get this reference 😂), it’s NOT in your head.

Let me help you figure it out 🙏🏽

Comment BOOK and I’ll send you details on how to work together 🧠

Is your doctor even running this?

Vitamin B12

And just this year alone, I’ve seen low B12 come up again and again in women in their late 30s, 40s and beyond(often alongside low iron)

When you’re already dealing with fatigue, brain fog, low mood or just not feeling like yourself, it’s easy to assume it must be your hormones.

But before we blame everything on perimenopause, we need to make sure the basics have actually been checked.

Because you can’t make sense of your symptoms if important pieces of your bloodwork are missing.

I made a free lab checklist to help you know what to ask for and where to start.

Comment LABS and I’ll send it to you.

Low iron DOESN’T have to be your normal

I help women bring their iron levels back up every week and it can be life changing for so many of them.

If you’re ready to get to the bottom of things and are tired of being told that your low iron or anemia is “just how your body is” comment IRON to see how we can work together.

Histamine has more to it than allergies.

It’s also a brain chemical(called a neurotransmitter) that can trigger headaches/migraines, fatigue, water retention and pain when it builds up.

If your body isn’t clearing histamine well (through your gut or liver), especially when your period time comes, it can overflow with histamine and bring on crappy symptoms.

I notice this in practice a lot.

Many women have high amounts of histamine in their bodies, triggering their issues.

The biggest root I address to help this high histamine issue, is to heal their gut.

When your gut is working well, so many things especially your hormones, fall into place.
