Hey there 👋 I’m Dr. Tanner.

I’m a board-certified Doctor of Physical Therapy, strength coach, husband, and dad.

💪🏻 I help you eliminate pain so you can can do the things you love.

I found my way to health and fitness as an awkward middle schooler. I was very self-conscious about how I looked. 🤷

As soon as I could drive, I got a job to pay for a car and a gym membership. Working out did wonders for me both physically and mentally.

I tried every program and exercise I could get my hands on. At that time, all I care about I was being looked jacked and being strong. 😤

I didn’t adopt the best training principles early on and this resulted in frequent nagging injuries.

I found myself stuck in this cycle:

1️⃣ Workout for a period of time
2️⃣ Develops injury
3️⃣ Doesn’t address root issue
4️⃣ Take some time off and then get back at it
5️⃣ Start back at 1

I “got away” with this approach in my early twenties but at 30 it’s a WHOLE different ball game.

I was FRUSTRATED and CONFUSED about what to do to actually get better.

Thankfully, throughout my professional training and experience over the years I’ve figured out how to identify and target the root cause of pain, build strength, and develop resilience.

This has become even more important to me now than it was when I was younger.

As I approach 30 and have a growing family—my priorities for my health have shifted.

I still want to look jacked and be strong. 😉

BUT

What has also become important to me are these things:

✅ doing life without limits
✅ being a role model for health in my family
✅ being well rounded (mobility, strength, power, endurance)
✅ being able to not only play with my kids but run circles around them
✅ being the superhero that my family wants and needs.

I know what it’s like to feel frustrated, confused, and defeated by pain.

If you’ve ever been in this situation or you’re in this situation now, I’d love to hear from you.

I’d also love to help you overcome pain.

Finding the right “entry point” is a major key to recovery.

It’s really hard to do this on your own.

Most people will try something good once and give up

Or do something suboptimal for too long and think they’re broken.

If that’s you, it’s your responsibility to do something about it.

Take action and commit to something that will actually get you the relief you are after. by @dr.tannerholden

Don’t be the person that makes these mistakes and prolongs their pain unnecessarily.

It’s not normal to keep searching for answers and “waiting” for someone to figure it out.

You’re wasting your time and probably not enjoying life in the ways you want to.

Dm me “recover” to actually fix your back pain without relying on surgery, injections, physical therapy, or adjustments. by @dr.tannerholden

Recipe for prolonging back pain and sciatica.

But seriously, don’t keep doing these things.

If you want to stop wasting time and get on a clear path to recovery.

DM me “recovery” and let’s outline an actionable plan. by @dr.tannerholden

Most people dealing with sciatica from disc herniations aren’t lazy… you’re just following advice that sounds logical but keeps them stuck.

They stretch more.
They rest more.
They chase quick fixes

And months (sometimes years) later… the pain still shows up when you sit, bend down, pick something up.

Here’s the reality most people aren’t told 👇

Sciatica usually improves when you rebuild strength, improve spinal control, and gradually reload the tissues around the irritated nerve — not when you avoid movement or constantly “protect” your back.

Here’s the truth:
✔ Movement speeds recovery more than rest
✔ Disc findings on MRI often exist in pain-free people
✔ Long-term relief usually comes from progressive strength and loading
✔ Avoiding all symptoms can actually make nerves more sensitive
✔ Passive treatments rarely create lasting change on their own

If you’ve tried stretching, injections, chiropractic, massage, random exercises, physical therapy without lasting results… there is still hope.

You likely just haven’t been given a clear road map from where you are to where you want to be.

If this post helped you understand your pain better:
👉 Save it so you don’t fall back into old habits
👉 Follow for evidence-based rehab strategies for back pain and sciatica
👉 Comment RECOVERY if you want to overcome sciatica by @dr.tannerholden

Back pain doesn’t mean you’re broken.

And it definitely doesn’t mean you’re just “getting older.”

Bridging the gap from where you are to where you want to be can feel impossible.

Especially if you’ve been burned before through physical therapy, chiropractic, etc.

It’s hard to try and commit to something else not knowing if it will pay off.

You’re not alone.

A lot of people experience this.

Getting rid of back pain isn’t easy but it doesn’t have to be complicated.

This is why you need a

✅ thorough history and movement assessment
✅ mapped out recovery plan based on findings
✅ accountability and coaching so that you’ll follow through and navigate obstacles
