10 RANDOM FACTS you probably never wanted to know about me 😄

There are some new folks around here, so I thought I‘d take the opportunity to properly say HI 👋🏼 This is me, who is painting and drawing all these portraits and characters and hands around here. The people around me say that I am a very creative and loving and very loyal person. I feel things very intensely and need much alone-time to fully recharge my social and emotional batteries. Funny enough, I chose a career that has being around and meeting new people all the time as a big part of it. But then again, it makes sense, because I like challenges and always seek ways to grow, to broaden my horizon and to enrich my skills and perspectives. The blank canvas grants me more freedom, patience and comfort than any actress or actor ever could. Here is where I feel truly safe and able to express anything that wants to come out. More than anything I love stories and dreams, whichever form they can take - may it be books or movies or photography or games or music or conversations. The more detached from or the more deeply rooted within reality the better - just anything other than superficiality.

Following my art you will probably get to know parts of me that other people don‘t. And maybe, you might also find out things about yourself you haven’t been aware of before! 💛

Sakura Dreams (here in the light of the setting sun) is of soft daydreaming, fading beauty of fragile blossoms, a kind whispering breeze in the leaves, the sweet scent of early spring. 🌸

She was an experiment and a success 💛 I love the loose strokes of her hair, the soft hatching to give her form.

Somehow she has captured a many eyes and hearts and I can’t blame anyone. When I look at her long enough, she does the same to me… 😌

Where would you hang this in your place?

„Touch“ is one of my first watercolor hand paintings and it ignited a very gentle love in me. The touch of hands is so special and expressive and it does not have to be a grand gesture. I love the emotion in the small, subtle touch. It’s like a secret between two people. Hands and touch we can use, when our words fail, because we already had them long before words existed.

I was once approached at a market by a psychotherapist, who was drawn to my hand paintings, and that meeting and exchange memorable impacted me. Because the state and world I am within when I create my paintings or look at them is something entirely different from what other people perceive. Each of you sees and feels something unique and different from everyone else. And I think that’s very beautiful.

After finishing an artwork I usually need distance to be able to fully see it and acknowledge it as an artwork.

During the painting process I am so close, so focused on what I want to achieve, so concentrated on details, on brush strokes… and on mistakes. When I’m done, I’m done. I’m relieved, more or less happy with the outcome. But most of the times I need to walk away and come back with a fresh mind and a fresh eye (and sometimes this takes months) to finally discover its soul. When I can finally see what I was hoping to express and sometimes even more.

The same with BRUSH. At first I felt like I really messed up and that it conveyed nothing of what I wanted to tell. I feared the background was overpowering the actual motive, something I could not change anymore (or was afraid to screw up even more). But every time I came back to it, I liked it a bit more. Until finally I could see, that with all its mistakes and imperfections, it still had its soul.

BRUSH is born from a hesitant and tender feeling. It’s a shy moment, small, fragile, no loud announcements, but soft concession. Truthful and committed nonetheless, assuring grounding and support. This BRUSH is a promise.
What’s it to you?

Detail sneak peek for BRUTAL LOVE - Lestat & Louis of AMC’s show based on Anne Rice‘s „Interview with the Vampire“

This crop already speaks loudly for why I chose to paint this specific scene.
We have this very gentle touch of a hand, soft but expressive and it reveals far more than one simple sentence could say.

Go ahead still and give me one sentence in the comments! 💛

Loustat fanart (Interview with the Vampire) in the making.
Painting curly/wavy hair is also pretty much a brutal love.

Fanart is a very fun way to paint for me without being too serious about everything 💛

Who has watched the AMC show? I actually only just watched it this summer. by @draping.colors

🍁Maple Musings🍁 is here!!
Ginkgo and Oak finally got their long awaited brother 🍁

For many people autumn is a dark season, they get depressed by the idea of things „dying“ and the world turning gray. For me it is a time for slowing down, for taking a deep, deep breath and getting ready to take a nice, long nap and break, before coming back again revitalized. It is a time to reflect, to detox, to let go of things, that no longer serve you quite right. Sometimes, this might be painful, but then again pain and sadness is just another part of the whole wonderful variety of emotions we can feel and experience in a healthy way.
(If you feel overwhelmed by the dark season or suffer from depression, please be kind to yourself and find professional help 💛)

🍁 Maple Musings 🍁 and how he came to be…

I had an idea where I wanted to go with the third parting the series, but I encountered difficulties along the way. He looked so much like a Halloween character at some point 😂 Which is also fine for an autumn series, but not what I wanted for him. I think I managed to pull him back to the living just fine in the end 🤭

I have many very good ideas for a summer series and I can’t wait to tackle it and see how things turn out while being created ✨ They might be something people actually would want to HANG ON THEIR WALLS!! (I was being criticized for that with the autumn series… idc 🙃)

🍁Maple Musings🍁 sneak peek!
One year after I set out on this series, I am done! The Autumn Musings are not as light and soft as the Flower Dreams, they‘re bright and dark at the same time, they’re golden sunshine and dark melancholy and everything in between.

I love autumn because the world gets quieter again, everything slows down and becomes more cozy. I love the variety. The bright colored leaves, the fog, the crows, the rainy days when you can cuddle up on your couch, comfy sweaters and warm socks.
How do you feel about autumn? What’s your favorite or least favorite part of it?

And most of all… are you ready for the melancholic Maple Musings? by @draping.colors
