A landscape to be reshaped What remains of an image when it is redrawn, detail by detail? 📆 Du 25 septembre 2026 au 3 janvier 2027 🌒 « Éclipse, le dessin à travers la photographie », sous le commissariat d’Anne Favier ⏰ Ouvert tous les jours de 11h à 19h 📍 Drawing Lab, 17 rue de Richelieu — 75001 Paris 🎟️ Entrée libre — 🌒 When Drawing Reveals the Image In « Éclipse, le dessin à travers la photographie », a photograph is never quite the same once it passes through the act of drawing. From one artist to another, drawing becomes a space for translation, where the photographic image is reinvented. When Photography Becomes Drawing — Jean Olivier Hucleux 📸 Photo or drawing: why was Jean Olivier Hucleux taken to court? In this video, Anne Favier, curator of « Éclipse », discusses Jean Olivier Hucleux’s portrait of Joseph Beuys, based on a photograph by Alice Springs. With its extraordinary precision, the drawing reproduces the photographic image to the point where the boundaries between copying and creating begin to blur. But where does reproduction end and interpretation begin? An artwork that challenges our perception and questions the boundary between photography and drawing. 🤝 Artwork on loan from FRAC Centre-Val de Loire. 📆 On view until January 3, 2027 🌒 « Éclipse, le dessin à travers la photographie », curated by Anne Favier ⏰ Open daily from 11am to 7pm 📍 Drawing Lab, 17 rue de Richelieu — 75001 Paris 🎟️ Free admission #DrawingLab #Eclipse #JeanOlivierHucleux #FRACCentreValDeLoire #AnneFavier #ArtContemporain #Dessin #Photographie #Paris by @drawinglabparis
When Photography Becomes Drawing — Jean Olivier Hucleux How can drawing reproduce a photograph with such striking precision? A major figure of French hyperrealism, Jean Olivier Hucleux developed a drawing practice based on the meticulous observation of photographs. In Éclipse, le dessin à travers la photographie, his portrait of Joseph Beuys, based on a photograph by Alice Springs, explores the boundary between reproduction and interpretation. Through the precision of his lines, the photographic image becomes a drawing while retaining the presence and details of the original subject. This work is on view at Drawing Lab thanks to a loan from FRAC Centre-Val de Loire, to whom we extend our warm thanks for their collaboration. 📆 On view until January 3, 2027 🌒 « Éclipse, le dessin à travers la photographie », curated by Anne Favier ⏰ Open daily from 11am to 7pm 📍 Drawing Lab, 17 rue de Richelieu — 75001 Paris 🎟️ Free admission #DrawingLab #Eclipse #JeanOlivierHucleux #FRACCentreValDeLoire #ArtContemporain #Dessin #Photographie #Hyperréalisme #Exposition #Paris by @drawinglabparis
In Éclipse, the boundary between the two becomes blurred. Using charcoal, graphite or pastel, these works take photographs as their starting point and painstakingly reinterpret them, until we begin to question what we see. The image is no longer simply what it depicts: it becomes a surface, with its grain, folds, shadows and absences. Three gestures, one question: what remains of an image when it is drawn? 📆 Until 3 January 2027 🌒 Éclipse, drawing through photography, curated by Anne Favier ⏰ Open daily from 11 am to 7 pm 📍 Drawing Lab, 17 rue de Richelieu — 75001 Paris 🎟️ Free admission #DrawingLab #Eclipse #LeDessinATraversLaPhotographie #ArtContemporain #Dessin #Photographie #Exposition #Paris by @drawinglabparis
