POSTS STORIES REELS

On Good Friday, I participated in The Seven Last Words of Jesus Christ. I preached the 4th word, “Why have you forsaken me?” But I remixed the sermon titling it, “Forsaken with an Expiration.”

Using a story to introduce the text, I recounted watching #RayCharles sing “Living for the city” in Pasadena, California in 1991 (via a Facebook clip). As he sang and played the piano, he said “oh Lord why have you forsaken me.”

Please check out this clip. I pray that it blesses someone 💕✝️ I’ll link the full sermon in stories #ladypreacher #preachtheword by @drbarnesholiday

Today I got the opportunity to preach. Check it out! #psalm113v4 The full sermon will be linked in stories. ♥️✝️ by @drbarnesholiday

This past Sunday I chose to honor my Dad by preaching for the first time in a church. Let me tell YOU…I experienced a range of emotions. I was So nervous leading up to this day and I experienced a fair share of trials. I EVEN had to get a pep talk from my husband, Dad, Mom, sister and niece. BUT when I stood before the church, all of my anxiety and nervousness dissipated. Whew.

Thank you to ALL of my family, friends, mentors, colleagues, sorors and church family for supporting me, praying with and for me, and for loving me as I am.

Thank you to Rev. Hood for giving me this opportunity!

Thank God for bringing me a mighty LONG way. And He’s still not done with me YET!

I feel SO blessed and content on this journey. Pursuing purpose is everything that I ever imagined, both good and no so good BUT I’m grateful.

Pray for your pastors, y’all, instead of criticizing them because truthfully you have NO idea 🙏🏾

I’ll post the link for the full sermon in stories and below.

Everybody wants the accolades. Very few want to do the dirty work. Congrats to my amazing husband on doing the dirty work—the strategic work, the people centered work.

✅ Money out of politics 🐐
✅ Several legislators at the federal level 🐐
✅ Many legislators at the state level 🐐

Scott T. Holiday I’m SO incredibly proud of YOU! What a privilege it is to watch your evolution up close and personal. And while you are truly GOATED, you remain humble, with your focus on the people and the community.

Thanks for all that you do to make our little corner of the world a better place.

EXCELLENT is an understatement to describe what took place this evening. Wonderful conversation @jemelehill ! Kudos, babe and team 🥳🤯

Let’s GO Dr. @abdulelsayed 💙 It’s tons of work over the next few weeks BUT we are anxiously waiting to get the win and then get things done! by @drbarnesholiday

This weekend I attended the Michigan Cluster with my mother in law. Funny enough, the conference was hosted at the Amway Grand Hotel—a hotel that I visited as a child—and it brought back so many fond memories. Being around SO many sorors that I haven’t seen in years + meeting new ones was SO beautiful on so many levels.

For years, I’ve been removed from sorority life, but it has been a blessing getting back active. I’m SO glad that I attended.

It was the perfect blend of rest, relaxation and sisterhood 🩷💚 I can’t BELIEVE that I didn’t take pictures on my phone 🥹🤷🏾‍♀️

LAST THING: I wore @clearlyfemale the first night and I really am bringing her back. The compliments were 🤯🩷💚🩷💚💗 #aka1908💖💚 by @drbarnesholiday

Have you ever NOT Believed?! ✝️
I HAVE! And I’m definitely an open book about it. SO much that I’ve listened to atleast a dozen (or more) people discuss the same journey and did whatever the moment called for from there 🤷🏾‍♀️✝️

God still loves you. And there’s nothing you can or have to do about it. by @drbarnesholiday

NINETEEN 💗💚

Growing up together is WILD 🤯 by @drbarnesholiday

$From Day 1. To Graduation And now #PreacHER 🚩NOT pictured: The tears, the sacrifice, the late nights and early mornings, unsatisfactory papers, conversations with broken people, secrets held, resources given + received, doubts, insecurities, questions + questioning God, unwavering faith, NO faith, listening, not listening, silence and silent seasons, empty cup, support system, why God moments + why me… Success and dreams accomplished look way different than pretty pictures; they only tell a fraction of the story 😉Nonetheless, while I LOVE the finished product I’m most grateful for the journey. I’m ready, Lord 🚀✝️ by @drbarnesholiday$

A while ago, my therapist mentioned “glimmers”—things that give me the “feels,” make me feel good in the moment, at peace even.

Here are my “glimmers” as of late.

1. Walking into my house and seeing fresh flowers from my garden paired with flowers from my husband 🩷
2. Beautiful environments + dinner with friends
3. A pretty + tasty cocktail
4. Good food + impromptu dates with my husband
5. Growing wild flowers then harvesting them
6. Old pictures of my girls 🥹😍
7. Fancy dinner from the imagination of my kiddo
8. Big girl, big girl leotard, walking into her own 🩰
9. Seeing my godmother heal ❤️‍🩹
10. Ice cream date + coffee ice cream
11. Stuffing my face solo in the sun by @drbarnesholiday

Just because I’m a #christian does NOT mean that I can’t respect OR find beauty in other religions/faiths.

1. I am a Christian and therefore a lover of Christ
2. I find beauty in other religions AND people who worship different than I do.
3. As a seminary student at #DukeDivinity I studied many religions to better understand and to become more informed.
4. I’m not trying to convert anyone 🤷🏾‍♀️ it’s not my job 🤪amen?! by @drbarnesholiday

Revisiting Acts 7:54-60 is just 🤯

Stephen experiencing the glory of God and Christ standing?! MY GOODNESS.

As I wrote this sermon, I was amazed in ways that I cannot explain. Yes, I occasionally preach to the people BUT the Word stay preaching to me 😭

What a journey AND certainly one that I wouldn’t have personally chosen BUT I thank God that I was called to spread the gospel in a myriad of ways.

Blessings to all of you ❤️🙏🏾 #preachpreacher by @drbarnesholiday
