That’s what happens when a GP is a human first, not just someone working through a list of appointments.

Someone who actually knows you, your history, your family, what’s normal for you and what isn’t.

That kind of time is hard to find anywhere else.

Longer appointments, and a doctor who remembers you the next time you call, instead of someone new explaining your own history back to you.

Some doctors make you feel like a number.

She’s spent her whole career making sure hers don’t.

Dr Bhavika is one of the GPs at Niva Medical Clinic.

She trained at Imperial College London, graduating in 2008, and qualified as a GP in 2014.

She has a particular focus on women’s health, and on helping patients with things like weight, diabetes, and fertility.

Real patients of hers have gone into diabetes remission, lost weight and kept it off, and improved their chances of having a bab, from a plan built around them.

She’s also spent years working in a hospice, sitting with people at some of the hardest points in their life.

That kind of work teaches you how to actually listen, not just move someone through an appointment.

If you’ve ever left an appointment with more questions than you walked in with, that’s not what happens here.

With a longer GP appointment, she actually takes the time to answer them properly.

Same day appointments available.

A fantastic evening at the Doctify AI Networking Event, hearing how artificial intelligence is transforming healthcare while connecting with inspiring clinicians, entrepreneurs and innovators.

The discussions highlighted the exciting opportunities AI presents to improve patient care, streamline clinical workflows and support healthcare professionals—while reinforcing the importance of keeping compassionate, patient-centred care at the heart of everything we do.

Always valuable to exchange ideas, learn from others and explore how innovation can help shape the future of healthcare.

SHE Awards 2026 Health & Fitness Winner

Dr Bhavika Karsandas

Dr Bhavika’s journey in medicine has always been guided by one belief: healthcare should be about people, not just prescriptions.

After more than a decade as a GP, she joined Niva Medical Clinic with a vision to create a more personalised, compassionate approach to healthcare blending traditional general practice with Lifestyle Medicine, Women’s Health, and preventative care.

From hosting free community health talks and life skills workshops to raising awareness around diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and women’s health within South Asian communities, her mission remains the same: empowering people with knowledge and helping them feel truly heard.

“Seeing patients take ownership of their wellbeing and feel comfortable discussing sensitive topics has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey.”

A week ago I stood on this stage and received the SHE Award for Health and Fitness, and I’m still taking it in.

After nearly two decades in the NHS, I never imagined my path would lead me here. But something shifts when you reach a certain point in life. You begin to listen more closely to what truly aligns, to what feels natural rather than forced. You start to trust the quiet pull towards purpose, community, and connection. The noise softens, the self-limiting beliefs begin to fall away, and what remains is something far more honest.

Niva was never just about medicine. It was about creating a space where people feel seen, heard, and supported as whole individuals. No boxes, no boundaries, no separating problems from people. Just a simple intention at its core: to leave every human a little better than when you found them.

This journey has been one of unfolding, of shedding, of coming back to what really matters.

Thank you to the SHE Awards for creating a platform that celebrates women and their stories. I’m deeply grateful to be part of it. @sheawardsuk @niva_medical_clinic @shafbegum by @drbhavikav
