Choose your hard…uhh, that sounded better the first time I said it! πŸ€£πŸ˜±πŸ˜¬πŸ˜‚ Here are 3 ways to make the good choices a little easier: πŸ€ͺπŸ€©β˜€οΈ βœ… If you’re not quite ready to take the plunge to buy a plunge or to go to a plunge area, try this. Turn on the shower to cold for one minute after you’ve already cleaned all the parts. You can finish up with another 30 seconds to a minute of warm if you must. Slowly increase the amount of time that you’re in the cold helps to increase your cold tolerance. You can do it! πŸ₯Ά βœ… Set aside five minutes before you go to bed and rotate the things that you decide to stretch. Start with the big muscle groups like your hamstrings and quads. You can even do it on your bed right before sleep, it will make it easier to sleep and get into deep sleep even faster. βœ… To begin with try 25 steps of a toe walking, 25 steps of heel walking, 25 steps of a shuffle each direction, 25 steps of karaoke/crisscross move each direction and windmills with your arms. It will take you less than five minutes, but can plant the seed in your head to create space to warm up ahead of playing. It will also help you go from a 3.0 to a 3.5 or 3.5 to a 4. 0 guaranteed! OK, maybe that’s not true, but it is very good for you.🀣πŸ’ͺ🀩 Chose wisely Padawan!! πŸ€ͺπŸ€©βœ… Follow for more tips and tricks on improving your health so you can Stay in the Game! #pickleball #usapickleball #pickleballaddict #pickleball #newportbeachttc #pickleballsuperstore #majorleaguepickleball#recoveryequalslongevity #stayinthegame #sleep #pickleballrecovery by @drc_thepickleballdoc
🚨 Most pickleball players focus on playing more. The best players focus on recovering better. 🎾 If you're constantly dealing with sore knees, tight hips, low back stiffness, or feeling drained after matches, your recovery routine may be holding you back more than your game. The truth is that your body doesn't get stronger during pickleball. It gets stronger when it recovers. 3 simple recovery habits that can make a big difference: βœ… Hydrate before and after you play βœ… Walk for 5 minutes after your matches βœ… Get morning sunlight to support energy, sleep, and recovery These habits may seem simple, but they're often the difference between feeling great on the court and feeling beat up after every game. Remember: the goal isn't just to play pickleball this year. It's to stay strong, mobile, and competitive for decades. πŸ’ͺ🎾 Comment "RECOVER" id you're doing this on your matches. STOP TRYING TO HIT WINNERS EVERY TIME YOU TOUCH THE BALL! You don't win every point by hitting harder. Sometimes, the smartest shot is the one your opponent can't attack. πŸ˜‰ Here's a common pickleball mistake: seeing an opening and immediately going for a powerful shot, even when you're off balance or out of position. The result? Balls sailing long, hitting the net, or giving your opponent an easy counterattack. Try playing smarter with these 3 tips: 🎯 1. CONTROL BEFORE POWER Get balanced, watch the ball, and make solid contact. Don't sacrifice control just to hit harder. 🎾 2. USE YOUR SOFTER SHOTS A well-placed dink or controlled reset can put pressure on your opponent without forcing a risky winner. ⚑ 3. GET READY FOR THE NEXT BALL Your job isn't over after you hit the shot. Recover your position and prepare for what's coming back. Remember, great pickleball isn't about smashing everything. It's about knowing WHEN to attack and WHEN to play smart. πŸ‘‡ LET'S SETTLE THIS! Are you a: πŸ’₯ POWER PLAYER 🎯 PLACEMENT PLAYER Comment your answer below! PICKLEBALL PLAYERS: MORE TRAINING ISN'T ALWAYS BETTER! 🎾 You played hard yesterday. You're still sore today. So naturally, you think, β€œTime to hit the gym even harder!” πŸ˜… HOLD UP. Your body might need recovery, not another intense workout. πŸ’₯ Here's the mistake: Treating every day like a training day without giving your body enough time to recover. If you're constantly tired, struggling to keep up during matches, or feeling sore between sessions, it's worth taking a closer look at your training load. Try these recovery-day habits instead: πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ MOVE GENTLY: Take an easy walk or do comfortable mobility exercises. πŸ’§ REHYDRATE: Replace fluids lost during play, especially after sweating heavily. πŸ₯— REFUEL: Eat balanced meals with enough protein and carbohydrates to support recovery. 😴 PRIORITIZE SLEEP: Give your body the downtime it needs between demanding sessions. 🎾 ADJUST YOUR WORKLOAD: Alternate harder sessions with lighter days based on how you're feeling and recovering. Remember, a rest day doesn't mean you're losing progress. Smart recovery helps you show up ready for your next match! πŸ‘‡ BE HONEST! What does your day off look like? πŸ’€ REST AND RECOVER πŸ‹οΈ ONE MORE WORKOUT Comment REST or WORKOUT below! πŸ‘‡ πŸ“Œ Save this for your next recovery day. πŸ“² Send it to your doubles partner who never takes a day off. ❀️ Follow @drc_thepickleballdoc for pickleball recovery, sports performance, mobility, and injury prevention tips. PICKLEBALL PLAYERS: YOU CAN'T OUT-RECOVER BAD BASICS! 🎾 Cold plunge? βœ… Sauna? βœ… Compression boots? βœ… But are you forgetting the recovery habits that matter every single day? πŸ‘€ Here's the truth: recovery gadgets may help you feel refreshed, but they don't replace the fundamentals your body needs after a tough pickleball match. πŸ’§ 1. REHYDRATE Replace fluids lost through sweat. If you've played in the heat or sweated heavily, pay extra attention to hydration. πŸ₯— 2. REFUEL Eat a balanced meal with protein to support muscle repair and carbohydrates to replenish energy. 😴 3. PRIORITIZE SLEEP Your body needs adequate sleep to recover from training and prepare for your next session. 🧊 4. USE RECOVERY TOOLS WITH A PURPOSE Cold plunges, saunas, and compression boots may have a place in your routine, but more gadgets don't automatically mean better recovery. Dr. C's reminder? Don't spend all your time optimizing the fancy stuff while ignoring the basics. πŸ˜‰ πŸ‘‡ YOUR TURN! What's your go-to recovery tool after pickleball? 🧊 Cold plunge πŸ”₯ Sauna 🦡 Compression boots 😴 Sleep and rest Drop your answer in the comments! πŸ“Œ SAVE this post for after your next match. πŸ“² SHARE it with your doubles partner who loves trying every recovery gadget. ❀️ FOLLOW @drc_thepickleballdoc for science-informed pickleball recovery, injury prevention, mobility, and performance tips. COMING BACK TO PICKLEBALL AFTER A BREAK? DON'T GO FROM ZERO TO TOURNAMENT MODE! I know you’ve missed the court. But feeling rested doesn’t automatically mean your body is ready for hours of intense pickleball! πŸ˜… Jumping straight into back-to-back games can leave you struggling with fatigue, soreness, or aches you weren’t expecting. Here’s how to return to pickleball smarter: βœ… Start with shorter sessions. Give yourself time to rebuild your playing tolerance. βœ… Ease into movement. Begin with controlled shots and comfortable footwork before going all out. βœ… Pay attention to your body. Notice how you feel during play and the next morning. βœ… Build up gradually. Increase your playing time and intensity as your body adapts. ⚠️ Pain that gets worse, swelling, or changes in how you move deserve attention. Don’t try to tough it out just to finish another game. You want to keep playing pickleball for years, not just make it through today's match! πŸ’ͺ Coming back after a break? Comment BACK ON COURT! πŸ“Œ Save this for your next court day. πŸ“² Send it to your doubles partner who never knows when to quit. ❀️ Follow @drc_thepickleballdoc for pickleball injury prevention, recovery tips, mobility, and performance advice to help you STAY IN THE GAME! #Pickleball #PickleballTips #PickleballFitness #PickleballTraining #PickleballRecovery #PickleballInjuryPrevention #SportsRecovery #AthleteRecovery #MobilityTraining #StayInTheGame #thepickleballdoc by @drc_thepickleballdoc
WHY IS DR.C SCRAPING MUSCLES WITH A METAL TOOL?! 🎾 Pickleball players, meet muscle scraping, also known as IASTM (instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization)! It might look intense, but here's what you need to know before trying this sports recovery technique. πŸ‘‡ πŸ› οΈ WHAT IS SCRAPING? IASTM uses a specialized tool to work over soft tissue. It's sometimes used to help manage discomfort and improve how movement feels. πŸ’ͺ CAN IT HELP YOUR RECOVERY? Some people report feeling better after treatment, but research on IASTM is mixed. Results vary, and it's not a magic fix for muscle soreness or injuries. 🚨 HERE'S WHAT I DON'T WANT YOU TO BELIEVE: ❌ More pressure doesn't mean better results. ❌ Red marks aren't proof that toxins are leaving your body. ❌ Scraping alone won't replace strength training, movement, or appropriate recovery. 🎾 THE PICKLEBALL RESET: Hands-on treatment may be one part of your recovery plan. Pair it with smart training, gradual strength building, and enough rest between demanding sessions. πŸ‘‡ YOUR TURN! Have you ever tried muscle scraping? Comment TRIED IT or CURIOUS below! πŸ‘‡ πŸ“Œ SAVE this post before your next recovery session. 🎾 SHARE it with your pickleball partner who's curious about sports recovery. ❀️ FOLLOW @drc_thepickleballdoc for evidence-based pickleball injury prevention, mobility, and recovery tips. PICKLEBALL PLAYERS, WHERE DID YOUR POWER GO?! 🎾πŸ’₯ Game 1: You're crushing drives. πŸ”₯ Game 2: Still feeling good. 😎 Game 3: Suddenly, your shots have the power of a wet noodle. πŸπŸ˜‚ Sound familiar? Here's the thing. Pickleball fatigue can affect your timing, movement, and ability to generate power. And if you're constantly running on empty, your performance may take a hit. Want to keep your game strong from the first serve to the final point? Start here! πŸ‘‡ πŸ’ͺ BUILD STRENGTH: Train your legs, core, and upper body to handle the demands of the game. ⚑ TRAIN YOUR ENDURANCE: Practice controlled intervals that challenge you to move, recover, and move again. πŸ’§ FUEL YOUR BODY: Stay hydrated and eat enough to support your activity. 😴 PRIORITIZE RECOVERY: Quality sleep and recovery days help your body adapt to training. 🎾 DON'T JUST TRAIN FOR GAME ONE. TRAIN FOR THE WHOLE MATCH! πŸ‘‡ YOUR TURN! When does your pickleball game start falling apart? 1️⃣ Game 1 3️⃣ Game 3 πŸ₯΅ Final points Drop your answer in the comments! πŸ‘‡ πŸ“Œ SAVE this for your next training session. 🎾 SHARE it with your doubles partner who runs out of gas! ❀️ FOLLOW @drc_thepickleballdoc for evidence-based pickleball performance, strength training, injury prevention, and recovery tips. PICKLEBALL PLAYERS: STOP IGNORING YOUR ANKLES! You train your legs. You practice your shots. But when was the last time you trained your ankles? πŸ‘€ Every shuffle, lunge, quick stop, and change of direction puts demands on your ankles. If your ankle strength, balance, or mobility needs work, your court movement can suffer. The good news? You don't need fancy equipment to get started! πŸ’ͺ Try these 3 ankle exercises: βœ… Calf Raises: Build calf and ankle strength. βœ… Single-Leg Balance: Challenge your balance and control. Stand near a wall for support. βœ… Ankle Rocks: Gently improve ankle mobility by moving your knee forward over your toes while keeping your heel planted. Start with movements you can control and progress gradually. Consistency matters more than doing everything at once! ⚠️ These exercises don't guarantee injury prevention. If you have persistent pain, swelling, or trouble bearing weight, get assessed by a qualified healthcare professional. πŸ‘‡ YOUR TURN! Have you ever rolled your ankle playing pickleball? Comment YES or NO below! πŸ‘‡ πŸ“Œ SAVE this Reel for your next training session. 🎾 SHARE it with your doubles partner. ❀️ FOLLOW @drc_thepickleballdoc for evidence-based pickleball injury prevention, mobility, recovery, and performance tips. PICKLEBALL PLAYERS: BEFORE YOU JUMP INTO THAT COLD PLUNGE, KNOW THIS! πŸ₯Ά Cold plunges are everywhere right now. Athletes swear by them, recovery studios offer them, and pickleball players are adding them to their post-game routines. But here's the question nobody should skip: Are you using cold water for the RIGHT recovery goal? πŸ‘€ Here's what the science says. 🧊 1. WANT TO FEEL LESS SORE? Cold-water immersion may help reduce perceived muscle soreness after a tough workout or match. That can be appealing when you've got another game coming up. πŸ’ͺ 2. TRYING TO BUILD MUSCLE AND STRENGTH? Hold on! Regular cold plunges immediately after resistance training may reduce some of the muscle-growth adaptations you're training for. That doesn't mean cold plunges are bad. It means timing and training goals matter. 🎾 3. DON'T FORGET THE BASICS. A cold plunge can't replace quality sleep, proper nutrition, hydration, or a sensible training schedule. Think of it as ONE tool in your recovery toolbox, not the entire toolbox. And remember, you don't need to freeze yourself to become a better pickleball player! πŸ˜‚ πŸ‘‡ LET'S TALK COLD PLUNGES! Have you tried one? 🧊 Comment RECOVERY if you use cold plunges. πŸ₯Ά Comment NEVER TRIED IT if you're still deciding. πŸ“Œ SAVE this post before your next recovery session. 🎾 SHARE it with your pickleball partner who loves a recovery hack. ❀️ FOLLOW @drc_thepickleballdoc for science-backed pickleball recovery, injury prevention, mobility, and performance tips to help you stay strong and play for life. #ColdPlunge #ColdWaterImmersion #Pickleball #PickleballRecovery #SportsRecovery #RecoveryTips #PickleballTraining #MuscleRecovery #StrengthTraining #InjuryPrevention #PickleballFitness #HealthyAging by @drc_thepickleballdoc
PICKLEBALL PLAYERS: YOUR BALANCE COULD BE THE MISSING PIECE IN YOUR GAME. 🎾 You can have great cardio. A powerful serve. Quick hands at the kitchen. But what happens when you lunge for a ball, land awkwardly, or have to change direction in a split second? πŸ‘€ If you're wobbling all over the place, it's time to work on your balance! Here's a quick test you can try right now. πŸ‘‡ βš–οΈ THE 10-SECOND PICKLEBALL BALANCE TEST βœ… Stand on one leg for 10 seconds. βœ… Keep your hips level. βœ… Try to stay steady without hopping or grabbing something. βœ… Repeat on the other leg. Use a wall or sturdy chair for support if needed. Safety first! How did you do? πŸ’ͺ STEADY: Nice! Keep challenging your balance with controlled movements. πŸ˜… WOBBLY: No shame! Start with supported balance exercises and build from there. Here's why it matters: pickleball demands quick stops, lateral movements, lunges, and single-leg control. Training your balance can help improve movement control and is especially valuable as you get older. And remember, balance isn't just about standing still. It's about controlling your body when the game gets FAST. πŸ”₯ πŸ‘‡ YOUR TURN! Comment STEADY or WOBBLY below. Let's see how the pickleball community does! πŸ“Œ SAVE this balance test and try it again as you train. 🎾 SEND it to your doubles partner. PICKLEBALL PLAYERS: PLAYING THROUGH PAIN DOESN'T MAKE YOU TOUGHER. IT COULD KEEP YOU OFF THE COURT LONGER. You’re in the middle of a great match. πŸ”₯ Your knee starts hurting. Your ankle feels weird. Your shoulder starts screaming. But you tell yourself… πŸ’¬ β€œJust one more game!” πŸ’¬ β€œI can push through it!” πŸ’¬ β€œIt'll be fine tomorrow!” Sound familiar? πŸ˜‚ Here's the problem. Not all pain is the same. πŸ’ͺ Normal muscle fatigue? That can happen after a tough session. ⚑ Sudden, sharp pain? Don't ignore it. 🚨 Pain that's getting worse or changing how you move? That's your cue to stop and reassess. If you're limping, protecting one side, or changing your movement to avoid pain, don't just tough it out. Continuing to play could aggravate the problem. And remember, you don't get bonus points for turning a small problem into a bigger one! Your goal isn't just to win today's match. It's to keep playing next week, next month, and for years to come. ❀️ Smart pickleball injury prevention starts with knowing when to push and when to pause. πŸ‘‡ BE HONEST! Have you ever kept playing even when you knew something wasn't right?
