I’ve told my daughter she can do anything. I want her to know that life can bring you down but just get back up. I try to lead by example. Never let anyone tear you down whether it’s friends or a relationship. I love being a girl Mom 💗

6 years of being an ambassador for the @americanheartwa ♥️ I knew early on after my stroke that I wanted to share my story. I mean, I had never heard of a young woman having a stroke after giving birth.

During this journey of mine, I’ve learned so much about strokes. My daughter gave me the strength to share my story. It is because of her that I have made it this far. Other than my husband, she is the main reason that I kept going. A child always needs their mother.

Sharing my story is never easy however, if it saves another woman’s life then it is worth it. I should have been enjoying life as a new mom, instead I was fighting for my life. I am grateful for the American Heart Association, letting me share my story. It gave me a sense of purpose. This is what I was supposed to be doing 🫶🏼

World Stroke Day 🧠

• Prevalence: About 1 in 4 adults will have a stroke in their lifetime.

• Urgency: Nearly 2 million brain cells die every minute a cerebral artery is blocked during an ischemic stroke.

• Preventability: Up to 90% of strokes are linked to manageable risk factors like high blood pressure, diet, smoking, and exercise.

Went to try on jeans, actual jeans. No leggings. I had an idea of the size because during the summer I was a 16. I’m now a size 12 😭 I started out as a 22/24 18 months ago.

Clothes shopping is my new favorite thing 🛍️

As a stroke survivor, I’m passionate about the work the American Heart Association is doing to advance women’s health. For the first time ever, the American Heart Association, American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine have come together to develop a framework to support women’s cardiovascular health across her life! This will enable more female-specific screening, prevention and treatment and help women understand their risk across all stages of life - from adolescence to midlife through to perimenopause and menopause. ♥️

During my weight loss journey I had goals along the way. One was getting under 200lb. This morning I achieved that and it feels amazing! Confidence has lacked for way too long and as I gain it back is a great feeling. It’s never too late to reach your goals.

It’s more than just a number on a scale. It’s about acknowledging my accomplishments along the way. I always have something to prove to myself. A competition with myself. I’m almost there. I put myself first, my health first.

If you’ve ever had a weight problem you understand. I know my Mom would be SO proud! I’m strong because of her.

Today, on this beautiful day, we did a virtual lung cancer walk. We honored my mother-in-law as we lost her in May 2025. Irene first had lung cancer in 2011. She beat it. Then December 2024 we had the awful news it had returned.

After lots of discussion, it was settled she didn’t want to fight. Radiation would be too hard on her body. Then months later Irene passed. In her own home, on her own terms. We always honor her in several ways. We all miss her so much! Today was the perfect day for her to shine bright ✨

Today marks 13 years of running 5k’s. I was never a runner. In fact I used to hate it. But one day I thought, why not. I was overweight and wanted to show that just because I wasn’t skinny, I could do it.

Then it just started to become a thing. Just goes to show you can be any size to do something. Keep proving them wrong 🫶🏼

We did family photos tonight at Mount Rainier. For the first time in years I felt comfortable with how I looked ♥️

81lb is a crazy amount of extra weight. I know I’ll never be what is considered a “healthy” weight, and I’m ok with that. I’ve worked hard, changed my eating completely and it’s still hard.

My stroke still affects my body and my mind. I’m almost always tired and get burned out quickly. But I still move forward the best I can. 25 or so more lb’s to get to my goal, aiming for 100. Lets GOOOOO!
