I recognized a new depth of love when I looked into those glassy green dinner plate eyes.

You were the first certainty in love that I experienced. You were my baby, my orange angel girl. Many of my best memories are the nights you slept beside me. Your pathetic whimpered snoring with your delicate soft fur and body heat against my chest, shoulders, and neck.

EP ii. What does it mean to create with no regard for anything besides the people in the room?

We sat down and listened with one another, and dissected what felt exciting and what felt worth exploring. It culminated in a mass of material. With that, we selected 5 songs from the sessions we did in the Fall and saw them through. A document of three people exploring new methods of arranging, composing, and coming together. Love Poems:The Making of Humiliation and Other Songs Mixtape. Three hours and twenty minutes of blues, heavy metal, jazz, prog, electropunk, extreme metal, shoegaze, black metal, southern hip hop, noise, ambient, horrorcore, folk, alternative and trap music.

Three standout moments:

The kick drum on Duke Ellington’s Three J’s Blues, played by Jimmy Johnson, is flirting with me. It’s sparse thumping evokes a familiar scene. You know that moment when you lock eyes with a stranger at cafe? You look up from your book, hold each others gaze for a moment and then turn away. A few moments late you raise your head again hoping to catch another look. Are they interested? I feel like I’m the only one in the room and each blow becomes more excruciating than the last.

Last year I had a DMX renaissance. I first heard DMX in the 2001 Chris Rock film Down to Earth. And I sang Ruff Ryder’s Anthem all through grade 6. I hadn’t listened to him much since. Now that I’m older and I know my own history I pay closer attention to his words. The final line in Look Thru My Eyes tells you everything you need to know. “Feel the pain, feel the joy, of a man who was never a boy.”

Trha is without hesitation my without favourite contemporary Black Metal project. While you’ll find many qualities typical of the genre. What sets Trha apart is the immediate emotive quality which is both delicate and desperate; feminine. The youthful and defiant spirit is reminiscent of early aughts Italian screamo particularly the La Quiete / Louise Cyphre 10” split. Which is a must listen in of itself. In his Poems book Pasolini writes, “At almost forty years of age, I find myself with the rage of a youth who knows of himself only that he’s new and rants and raves against the old world. And, as a youth with no compassion or decency; I don’t conceal my state of being: I’ll never be at peace, ever.” Words: Nathan Donovan by @nofunclub_wpg

Today, a new record exists in the world. Created solely in partnership with my friend @nthndnvn besides being mastered by Brad Boatright at @audiosiege. An output birthed from one of my longest, most treasured, and most intimate relationships that I’ve maintained in this cruel world.

Today, we release the first collection of music under the moniker Ritchot Textiles.
