Getting medical equipment covered by insurance takes 2–4 weeks. Conduit Health gets it done almost instantly. Now they are leveraging that wedge to build long term relationships with the hardest to reach segment of the US population.

We just led their Series A, and this is a great perfect example of how Drive Capital thinks about investing: find a massive, fragmented industry where incumbents are still stuck in the past, and back the team using tech to change it.

Brokerage technology firm Alpaca has raised $150 million in a Series D round that values the company at $1.15 billion, securing additional backing from Drive Capital, Citadel Securities, Kraken, Opera Tech Ventures (BNP Paribas’s venture arm), and more, along with a $40 million line of credit. Founded by best friends Yoshi Yokokawa, Alpaca’s CEO, and Hitoshi Harada, Alpaca’s CPO, the company provides brokerage infrastructure through modern APIs, helping fintechs and financial institutions quickly offer stocks, ETFs, options, and crypto trading to customers without building their own regulated brokerage systems. As the lines between crypto and traditional finance continue to blur, Yokokawa says the convergence is accelerating demand for Alpaca’s platform, which now powers hundreds of clients across more than 40 countries and supports millions of brokerage accounts.
