Howdy! FYI I’m going to take a much needed break from social media. I’ll still have my accounts but will be deleting the apps on my phone for the next little while. If I’m not up on your latest news, that’s why… and if you need to get in touch with me- email, text and WhatsApp is your best bet. All is well, just need a breather from the doomscroll/dopescroll attention algos that are always in my pocket! ❤️✌️ by @drjmustapha

Every now and then I am made to question my commitment to teaching my students about the normative value of democratic principles and whether or not my “bias” against Trumpism and tyranny, genocide and hate in all its forms - and how I warn my students against normalizing those things-
is a “balanced” approach.
But then I remind myself of a simple question ... what would we have wanted the educators in the countries neighbouring Germany in the 1930s and South Africa in the 1980s to be teaching their students?
I make no apologies for my “bias” towards democracy and equality because anything else, right now, is complacency and complicity. by @drjmustapha

Some wonder why @zohrankmamdani becoming mayor of NYC means so much to so many of us. It’s a complicated thing… I wish him well and hope that he can live up to everything that is being placed on his shoulders. Rooting for him as “New York City’s First Muslim Mayor” has stakes that are planted very deep. by @drjmustapha

The last sunset of 2025. From me and my family to you and yours, may 2026 bring happiness and health. Most importantly, may 2026 see an end to genocide, fascism and the creeping tyranny of a soulless tech broligarchy. Never stop hoping for - and working towards- a better tomorrow ❤️ by @drjmustapha

Thinking a lot, lately, about this post I made last spring… by @drjmustapha

Today WP posted the names of all the children who have been killed by the state of I_s_al since Oct 7. This reel is 5 mins long and stops only after I got past the children who were killed by their first birthday. There is literally no justification, equivocation or qualification that is possible to make here. It’s not too late to recognize that a genocide- and not a “war”- is occurring before our eyes. The time to speak out and be open about your opposition to our complicity is now. It was actually over 600 days ago, but better late than never. Do you finally feel like a red line has been crossed, even if it’s crazy that it has taken this long? by @drjmustapha
