Reproductive Specialists of the Carolinas is now offering Needle-Free IVF in partnership with MDR Pharmacy, and we're the first and only fertility clinic in Charlotte to do so.

Daily injections are one of the hardest parts of IVF or egg freezing for many patients, so we're doing something about it.

Here's how it works: we place a quarter-sized adhesive patch on your stomach with a small, 9mm flexible port under the skin. Your subcutaneous medications are given through that port, which significantly reduces the number of needle injections you'd do at home.

Needle-Free IVF may be an option if you:
✨ Are preparing for IVF or egg freezing
✨ Feel anxious or distressed about needles
✨ Want a potentially more comfortable, less invasive experience
✨ Have delayed or paused treatment because of injection stress

What patients love: no daily injections and less stress and discomfort for some.

Please note: blood draws are still required during treatment, and "needle-free" refers to medication administration, not the entire IVF or egg freezing process.

Curious if this is right for you? Call us or ask about Needle-Free IVF at your next appointment.

‼️Your ovaries are not just reproductive organs; they are longevity organs.

The hormones your ovaries produce — primarily estrogen — regulate your cycle, support pregnancy, protect your heart, and support your brain. Ovaries maintain your bone density and regulate your metabolism and your mood.

This means ovarian aging is a whole-body health conversation, not just a fertility conversation.

Here’s what that means practically:

👉🏾 The earlier your ovarian function declines, the earlier those protective effects drop, increasing your risk for cardiovascular disease, dementia, and osteoporosis.
👉🏾 Women’s hormonal biology requires its own clinical lens, and ovarian health is at the center of that picture.
👉🏾 You don’t have to be trying to conceive to care about your ovaries. Your ovarian health at 28 shapes your body at 58.
👉🏾 A simple AMH blood test can give you a baseline for your ovarian reserve and a window into where you are today, and what to protect going forward.

The Global Wellness Summit just named ovarian aging the #1 longevity frontier for women—something I’ve been telling my patients for years.

October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. 🕯️

And this month, I'm not just showing up as your doctor. I'm showing up as someone who has been where you are.

As many of you know, I spent years on my own fertility journey filled with many failed transfers and a final decision to use a gestational carrier. It was heartbreaking

I share this not for sympathy, but because I know how isolating this grief can be, especially for Black women, who are so often expected to carry pain quietly and keep moving.

You don't have to carry this alone.

1 in 4 pregnancies ends in loss. That means this month touches so many of us even more than we ever talk about. And the silence makes it heavier.

If you've experienced pregnancy loss at any stage, I want you to know:
🕯️ Your grief is real and valid.
🕯️ You did nothing wrong.
🕯️ Your baby mattered. They still do.

Drop a 🕯️ below to honor your baby or someone you love who has carried this loss. by @drmatrika

Nobody talks about this enough, and I think it's one of the most important things a woman can know about her body.

Your ovarian reserve (the number of eggs you have remaining) starts declining the moment you're born. By your mid-30s, that decline accelerates significantly. The frustrating truth is that your period can still be perfectly regular while your ovarian reserve is quietly dropping.

Here's what I want every woman to know:
👉🏾 A simple blood test called AMH (anti-müllerian hormone) can give you a snapshot of your ovarian reserve right now.
👉🏾 Normal periods do not mean normal fertility. Cycle regularity and egg quantity are two completely different things.
👉🏾 If you're in your 20s or early 30s and not ready for a baby yet, egg freezing is worth a conversation. The younger and healthier your eggs, the better.
👉🏾 Knowledge is power. Knowing your numbers early gives you options, and options are everything.

You don't have to be trying to conceive to care about your fertility. Your ovarian health is part of your overall health.

Save this and share it with a woman in her 20s or 30s who needs to see it.

If you have PCOS, you need to know something important.

PCOS has officially been renamed PMOS: Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome. And as an REI, I have to say, it's about time.

For years, one of the hardest parts of my job was explaining to patients that despite the name, PCOS doesn't actually mean you have cysts on your ovaries. What we typically see are small follicles (not true cysts), and the name has caused unnecessary fear and confusion.

But even "polyfollicular ovarian syndrome" would have missed the bigger picture.

PCOS — now PMOS — is a complex metabolic and endocrine disorder that can involve:
👉🏾 Insulin resistance
👉🏾 Hormone imbalance
👉🏾 Ovulatory dysfunction
👉🏾 Chronic inflammation
👉🏾 Long-term cardiovascular and metabolic health risks

The new name finally reflects the condition, and that matters — because a more accurate name means better awareness, earlier diagnosis, and more targeted treatment for the 1 in 8 women living with this condition worldwide.

Have questions about PMOS or what this means for your fertility journey? Drop them below. I answer every question.

I wrote this for every woman who made it through another hard week on this journey. The one who smiled through it at work. The one who held it together until she got to the car. The one who isn’t sure she has enough left in her to keep going.

You do.

I’ve sat across from so many of you in my office, and I want you to know that what you’re carrying is real, it’s heavy, and you are not carrying it alone. Give yourself permission to rest, to feel it, and to know that showing up — even when it’s hard — is enough.

Save this for the days you need it most and share it with someone who needs to hear it today.

If you’ve been searching for a fertility doctor who actually gets it, hi, I’m Dr. Matrika Johnson.

I’m a Board Certified Reproductive Endocrinologist and Infertility Specialist. I help people navigate one of the most emotional, complex, and misunderstood journeys in medicine. I’ve walked this road myself.

I treat infertility and work to make sure every patient feels seen, heard, and supported every step of the way. If you’re starting to ask questions or you’ve been trying for years, there is a path forward, and I’d love to help.

I need someone to hear this today.

So many of my patients, especially Black patients, walk through my door carrying guilt.

They’ve been told that needing medical help to conceive means their faith isn’t strong enough. That if they just prayed harder, it would happen.

That is not true, and it was never true. You can believe deeply and see a specialist.

Seeking fertility care is not a contradiction of faith. It is a courageous, informed decision to pursue the family you deserve. Asking for help takes strength.

If you’ve been waiting because you felt like getting help meant giving up on your faith, this is your sign. You don’t have to choose.

Save this and share it with someone who needs it.
