Otoño en NuevaYol 🍂 🍁 🗽 by @drmccoy_thedj

City Pop, played inside a record store. Second Friday at @miyagirecordshop Records.

@luxlistenings returns on Friday, November 13 at 5pm with @drmccoy_thedj and myself, pairing Japanese soul, disco, and R&B records side by side.

Why records at Miyagi? Because this is a room built on digging and respect for various sounds.

City Pop came out of late 70s and 80s Japan, shaped by American soul, funk, and R&B. Hearing those records next to the music that inspired them is the point of the night.

Come early, bring someone who loves records, and plan to leave with one.

Venues and hospitality partners who want vinyl programming in their rooms: send a message and let’s talk.

Some nights the music can’t stay behind the decks.

On the third Saturday in May at Park Manor 75, @drmccoy_thedj stepped out from the booth and started singing “This Is It”; live, unplanned, fully in the moment. The room held its breath, then leaned all the way in. That is the feeling we are always chasing at Lux Pours.

This is what happens when you gather thoughtful people in an intimate Chicago spot, pour something made with intention alongside 220 Wine & Spirits, and let a real artist follow where the moment leads. The cocktail and the sound become one experience; a living room for culture, where craft is felt and not just served.

For people who taste the difference between a drink and a craft cocktail, and who hear the difference between a playlist and a purveyor of sound. The pairing is the point.

Lux Pours returns Saturday, June 20. Third Saturdays, every month, at Park Manor 75. Come sip, listen, and stay a while.

Sad to see @promontorychicago come to an end, but I am forever grateful for the memories created there. Some of my favorite times spinning, were at this place. Many special life moments happened there with people I love. For the managers, staff, DJs, musicians, artists, & patrons... THANK YOU!
