Happy 11th Birthday to my Sammie girl!🩷 This year you ➡️ BEAT CANCER, helped me rehab a few kitties, and have spent a long staycation in NJ with your grandparents! I miss chasing sunrises with you, hiking, beach walks, your cuddles, & our every day routine. Can’t wait to get you back to being a beach dog soon!😍 by @drmdzurenda

And if you don’t know, now you know🤪. Thank you, Coastal, for an incredible 10yrs! CCU has truly been home through so many chapters. Throughout my time as undergraduate ➡️ graduate ➡️ faculty, it was where I grew up. It brought me endless opportunities for student clubs and organizations, research, study abroad, and most of all memories with friends that turned into family.

Thank you to the faculty and staff who supported me throughout this journey, many of whom I was lucky enough to later call my colleagues. Thank you as well to community partners, and all of the amazing organizations, sponsors, donors, and friends whose support opened doors and created new possibilities.

And most of all, thank you to my students 🥹. Of all the roles I’ve held at Coastal, the most important one has been “Dr. D”. In recent years, and after my accident, you were my inspiration, my purpose, and my reminder of why this work matters. Teaching, mentoring, and learning alongside of you has been the greatest privilege.

To my Changemakers. keep making the change. You’ll get a full post soon💙. To Pre-vet Club, I know it won’t be long until you’re all alongside of me 🐾 . To the Sustainability Department and RISE Program- you brought my back to my passion of making an impact on not just people, but the planet too🌎 And to PETE Club- physical education and health will always be the most important subject in school😉. Keep advocating and showing up- your students need you more than you know 💪.

Coastal Carolina University, you didn’t just give me degrees, but you prepared me, and provided me with the courage to pursue what’s next. It’s never goodbye, it’s CCU later 🌊. by @drmdzurenda

Hauʻoli Lā Hānau Kayli!🌺 Happiest Hawaiian birthday to our forever roommie, little sis, and bestie that Sammie, Pumpkin, and I didn’t know we needed.

We miss you and our “tea times”, your pasta, yoga sessions, and most of all your calming energy ✨. Thank you for always reminding me to slow down. Thanks for bringing Salt so Pumpkin could find his BFF 😻 . And thanks for loving on any animal I brought home… Not that you had a choice since you were the stray I took in too🤣. (Kidding) it was the best two months that turned into almost two years!

We love you and so proud of you for living out your dreams in Maui! Can’t wait to visit you soon🤍 #fam by @drmdzurenda

Rehearsed and ready➡️ for tomorrow’s softball game, concert, …oh and for @gavitrain_dz @rachelll_ellsmore wedding too 🤪 .

Just a warning if you attend a Dzurenda wedding Bill will give a 10min speech, reveal your secrets.. & may test your athletic ability or musical talents too 😅. Can’t wait to get these two married!❤️ by @drmdzurenda

Figured I’d be late on your post just like I was late to your ceremony 😭🤣. A few weeks ago we danced the night away celebrating the forever freshman, had a mini softball reunion, and somehow avoided the hurricane’s path. CONGRATS to the Parker’s!! Love you both!🤍 #chantsup by @drmdzurenda

The wedding we all have been waiting for! Congrats Pat and Emily! I am so grateful to have been part of your special day. It was the most beautiful venue where we celebrated the most beautiful couple inside and out🥰.

And of course shout out to my dates @harmonylk @neal.hendrick who have now let me third wheel more weddings than I can count 😜. Love y’all! 🤍 #melissa #patricia #brenda #creamsters4life by @drmdzurenda

“Annie it’s time to go!” I imagined Poppop saying one last time. 🩷🪽

This past week, heaven gained a literal angel on earth. Mommom, you were the sweetest soul I have ever known. Thank you for ALWAYS showing up. Thank you for instilling so many values and passions in me, especially your love for nature, hiking, travel, and most importantly, education. (Which is why I knew you wouldn’t mind when I had my laptop out at your celebration lunch this weekend to beat a deadline 🤪… if anything, I know you were proud.)

Thank you for always waiting until I came home on breaks to make Christmas cookies, and for letting me sit on your lap ➡️ even up to the very last time I saw you this summer.

Losing the last grandparent hits a little different, but I’m beyond grateful and blessed to have had you for as long as I did. Love you forever, Mommom 🦋💜🩷 by @drmdzurenda

Congrats to our RISE students in Horry County for completing their summer internships and projects. We had a wonderful time celebrating their accomplishments, as well as their sponsors and the businesses who supported and mentored them along the way.

This all wouldn’t be possible without the partnership and support from @partnershipgrandstrand @bj_beaver @mbachamber Bank of America, and countless others who have contributed to our program and students’ success along the way!

Thank you to our director Dr. Pamela Martin, and our Coordinator Dr. Michelle Dzurenda for an amazing semester. And thank you to everyone involved on campus and in the community- the collective impact you had on sustainable development in both Horry and Georgetown Counties was immeasurable. by @drmdzurenda

Happy Shark Week! Still can’t get over how incredibly mindful, calm, and peaceful this experience was during our @the.sosa trip. Thank you for three awesome days @tannerunderwater - Ps will be featured on Shark Week tonight at 10pm!😉🦈 by @drmdzurenda

Happy World’s Shark Day! 🦈 And what better way to celebrate than wrapping up an unforgettable @the.sosa trip! THANK YOU @tannerunderwater for an incredible 3 days of free dives with one of the oceans’ most vital species to our ecosystems. Thank you for all you do to help break the stigma of these beautiful animals by educating others on why we need to protect them.

A big shoutout to the crew/photography team @danny_mako @aquamandavee -your skills, efforts, and passion shine in every picture you capture. Feeling grateful for this experience and every person who advocates to protect our oceans. I will be back🩵 #worldsharkday #sharkawarenessday #protecttheocean #protecttheblue by @drmdzurenda
