When I was asked to help with planning of @aslmsmeeting more than a year ago, I almost declined. As a new mom of a then 4 month old infant with plans to open a new practice in a new city I was overwhelmed by the potential time commitment, and that I wouldn’t be able to do a good job. But I said yes, because of my respect for @dr_gilly, the fact that I knew I would love working with him, and my love for the organization @aslmsmeeting which has been contributing to my knowledge and making me a better laser surgeon since I was a resident.
Fast forward a year and many hours of after-hours dedicated to brainstorming, coordinating, meeting and planning I am so glad I braved into this opportunity. With a record number of new sessions that brought together speakers from different specialities and from around the world, this year’s meeting was exhilarating, cutting edge, in the background of the most beautiful city Savannah (of course I’m biased!) Thank you to the most incredible co-chairs @dr_gilly and @clarkloeser who have become family and understood when I had to take an extra few minutes to nurse and put Nora to sleep. Thank you to the INCREDIBLE and most dedicated @aslmsstaff who make our work possible and figure out all the small details to make this all happen. I love you all and I love this organization! This year, it felt more important than ever to set up Haft-Seen in our home.

For over 3,000 years, the Persian New Year has been welcomed with Haft-Seen—a table of symbolic elements representing renewal, growth, and the return of light after darkness. Growing up, it grounded me—reminding me of my small place within this vast, beautiful universe, and of nature’s quiet wisdom: its ability to restore, rebalance, and begin again.
