Before redesigning interfaces, we first needed to understand the reality behind them.

Our collaboration with @hydrostadium began with an immersion inside the Chavaroche hydroelectric plant, observing operations, meeting stakeholders, and experiencing the rhythms and constraints of the site firsthand.

For us, on-site discovery is not a preliminary step. It is a core part of the design process. By engaging directly with operators and industrial environments, we can better understand how technologies are actually used, where complexity emerges, and what conditions are necessary for adoption.

This fieldwork became the foundation for rethinking Hydrostadium’s monitoring tool, transforming a bespoke internal system into a scalable product for the broader energy sector, from hydroelectricity to microgrids.

Because interfaces begin with understanding the systems and the people behind them.
