“THRESHOLD OF ILLUMINATION”

EMERGENCE

The lead figure, stepping through the doorway, is bathed in light, symbolizing enlightenment or a new beginning. The figure in the middle, still in the dimness but reaching towards the light, suggests a determined pursuit of this new path. The third figure, kneeling in the shadows, might represent those who are yet to discover or embrace the light, or perhaps a moment of reflection before continuing the journey.

THRESHOLD OF ILLUMINATION

This artwork beautifully captures a moment of profound transition. A figure, seen from behind, is emerging from darkness into a brilliant light. The strong contrast between the deep shadows and the intense luminescence creates a dramatic and evocative scene. The checkered floor, partially illuminated, adds a sense of depth and visual interest, with the light casting elongated shadows that echo the movement.

“AMEN”
—————————
—————————
The artwork uses a striking red backdrop, dotted with stars and celestial bodies, giving it a cosmic, almost spiritual feel. In the center, we see a figure from behind, with hands raised in a gesture that’s often associated with rejection or a firm “no.” This figure is adorned with a rosary and necklaces, adding a layer of personal significance. Floating above is a golden ankh, an ancient Egyptian symbol of life.

The title, “AMEN,” is the key to unlocking the artwork’s message. Typically, “Amen” is an affirmation, a word of agreement or acceptance, often used at the end of prayers. However, here, it’s juxtaposed with the gesture of rejection. I’m playing with this duality. The raised hands represent all the things we, as humans, might reject – perhaps societal norms, past mistakes, negative influences, or even limitations we place on ourselves.

By titling the piece “AMEN,” I suggests that by acknowledging and “saying no” to these things, we are, in a way, affirming a new path, a different direction, or a personal truth. It’s like saying, “I reject this, and so be it,” giving power and finality to that rejection, hence the “Amen.” The ankh symbol above ties into this by suggesting that this act of rejection can lead to a form of rebirth or a new beginning, a renewed sense of life. It’s a powerful statement about self-determination and the transformative power of deciding what you no longer want in your life.

$ECLIPSE OF THE UNSAID. Mixed media (acrylic on fine art print) 6ft by 4ft 2025. Eclipse of the Unsaid captures the precise instant when language fails, not through silence, but through violent multiplication. Three golden faces, lit by the same dying source, register the arrival of a single unbearable sentence. Each expression is a different fracture of the same wound: one still reaching for comprehension, one already drowning in it, one already beyond return. The wooden table becomes an altar; the charging cables thin lifelines that no longer connect to anything living. What was spoken is never shown, only its afterimage in flesh and light. In that suspended breath between “hello” and irreversible truth, the painting asks: how many versions of ourselves die inside one phone call? At the end, this piece holds the gravity of what we cannot say back. #contemporanyart #photocollage #collage #contemporarycollage #mixedmedia by @dsk_michaels$

JUST RESTING. NOT THINKING.

"JUST RESTING NOT THINKING" is a powerful and introspective artwork that pays tribute to the resilience and determination of men who refuse to give up on their dreams. The piece invites viewers to reflect on the importance of taking a moment to pause, breathe, and recharge, even in the midst of chaos and uncertainty.

The artwork's title is a nod to the idea that sometimes, it's necessary to silence the noise of our minds and simply be. It's a reminder that our minds are constantly racing, planning, and worrying, but that true progress often begins with a moment of stillness.

This artwork is an ode to the unsung heroes who refuse to give up on their dreams, who keep pushing forward even when the road ahead seems uncertain. It's a celebration of the human spirit, and the power of perseverance and determination.
