From the sketchbooks…studying wolves now. The more I learn about them, the more I find them amazing. Will return to the studio soon after a 6 months hiatus. So looking forward to wrestling with another large charcoal drawing. by @dunham_brian_

I am a picture nerd. My wife is a word nerd. We constantly learn from each other in many realms. One of the funnest areas to share are our respective creative arenas.
This is her poem referencing one of our daughters running into a room to show her drawings. Some of her poems melt my kneecaps. This is one of them. by @dunham_brian_

The main benefit of her spending two gap years to develop both her skiing and her art: she learned to lean into the long game. Her patience grew steadily as did her willingness to change her drawing as it evolved. Truly a privilege to witness her development and watch her confidence grow. She is now a freshman in college pursuing a biology major with an art minor and racing for her school team. by @dunham_brian_

This was Anna’s final project that she drew during the last of her two gap years between high school and college. Charcoal drawing on paper. by @dunham_brian_

This is a work in progress by Anna and her largest drawing to date being about 35 by 55 inches. Curious to see where she goes with this one. by @dunham_brian_

Anchor. A self portrait drawn by Anna. This piece was another big milestone in her art journey. It allowed her to riff and infuse the piece with a narrative. Between her mother, who is a poet, and me we often talk about inscribing a story but without putting all the details into the work. This piece does a great job of not spelling things out too clearly and adds just a little bit of mystery to engage the viewer. by @dunham_brian_
