First dunk at 12. Now he’s in Shaq’s DunkMan League.

Avante “The Joker” Nichols sat down with us on Dunk Talk #77 to go through his whole journey, from watching Jonathan Clark as a kid to hitting a Toe Touch in front of him first try in the DunkMan group stage.

An assistant coach looked Jeremiah Walker in the face and told him he sucked at basketball and should just dunk for a living.

He didn’t even know that was a job.

Now he’s 20, dunking professionally on the FIBA circuit, and getting flown around the world to do it.

On the latest Dunk Talk Podcast, Dylan Haugen and Travis Reynolds sat down with Jeremiah, one of London’s best, to walk through the whole thing: first dunk at 12, then a three year gap before he hit another, and winning £500 at a contest and deciding right there he was a professional.

I sat down with Cam Hazzard this week for a podcast, and his story is one of the wildest I’ve covered.

Cam’s from Dallas, he’s 20, and he got his first dunk at 15. A couple weeks after his first windmill he tore both hamstrings and lost a full year. When he came back, his bag exploded, and he kept climbing from there.

Then in January he shattered his hand playing intramurals. Surgery, permanent plates, out for about two and a half months. He got the DunkMan call from Chuck about a week after the surgery, with his hand still strapped to his chest. Once he was cleared to jump again, it took him two and a half weeks back in the gym to test a 50 inch vertical, one of about seven people to ever do it.

We met up earlier this year when Dennis and I were in Dallas. We rented a gym, and Cam hit basically every 360 variation you can think of. Now we’re both competing in Shaq’s DunkMan League this summer, so I wanted to get his full story on record before the league kicks off.

A lot of people don’t know Cam yet. I think that changes fast. Full episode is out now, link in bio! by @dunktalks

In Episode 68, Travis Reynolds and I break down the 2026 NBA Dunk Contest dunk by dunk. We debate the scores, judging consistency, and talk through missed attempts, advancement decisions, and which performances actually deserved to move on.

We also react to Mac McClung’s four unreleased “would-have-been” contest dunks and compare them to what he put on the NBA stage.

If you care about dunk contests and how they’re judged, this one’s for you.

Episode 67 of the Dunk Talk Podcast is live.

We sit down with Dillan McCarthy just days after he officially tested a 50-inch vertical, making him the youngest athlete ever to reach the mark. In this episode, Dillan breaks down his full journey: starting dunking at 16, years of extreme training, how his approach has evolved, and what it actually took to push past limits most people never touch.

We also dive into earning Dunk Camp’s Black Band, refining technique through low-rim work, training with elite coaches, and what comes next as he chases 51 inches and beyond.

If you care about elite jumping, dunk progression, or the mindset behind world-class athletic development, this one’s worth your time.

Midwest dunker Nolan Larson shared his journey from growing up on mini-hoops in Wisconsin to hitting show-stopping dunks at Dunk Camp. But the real story came after—when a severe back injury forced him to step away from dunking altogether.

Nolan spoke openly about the mental battle that followed, the process of finding peace, and how he’s now channeling that same drive into new creative outlets like music and golf.

“If my last dunk was that Win at Wisconsin Dunk Camp, I’m okay with that.”

It’s a story about resilience, gratitude, and finding purpose beyond performance.
