Two days ago, Nedal left us, very unexpectedly.

———

All energy is only borrowed.
And one day, we have to give it back.

You were a good soul.
My teacher.
A friend.

You showed me how to be present.
And gave me yours.

Rest in peace, Nedal.

I will miss you so much 🤍

———

Thank you both for capturing those precious moments. 🥹🤍

Somewhere between nature, quiet moments, and meaningful connections, we find our way back to ourselves.

A space to slow down, feel safe, reconnect, and listen to what’s within.

For my ancestors, especially the wild women before me 🔥🐎 I now know what I am here to do, this is for you 😭🙏🏽

Did you know that the vocals to this song - Enigma's "Return to Innocence" - belong to Difang / Kuo Ying-nan (郭英男) and Igay Duana / Kuo Hsiu-chu (郭秀珠) an elderly couple from Taiwan's Amis indigenous community from Malan Li (馬蘭里) Taitung? The vocals are known for their polyphonic, multi-voiced style featuring high-pitched, plaintive counterpoint harmonies characteristic of Amis traditional singing.

The Amis song is called "Weeding and Paddyfield Song No. 1," or the "Elders' Drinking Song." Enigma producer Michael Cretu believed the recording was public domain and sampled it without crediting Difang, who sued Enigma in 1997 after EMI refused him credit. The song was selected as the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics theme song.

The Duanas settled out of court with Virgin Records, Enigma, and the IOC after a three-year battle with financial terms kept confidential. The Duanas have been credited on all subsequent releases of the song. The case remains a landmark in debates over indigenous cultural ownership and consent.

By day three, we begin to understand that grooming isn’t simply preparing a horse for a ride.
It’s an act of respect.

We learn how to brush their bodies.
Care for their mane and tail.
Clean their hooves.

Every step invites us to slow down.To notice what the horse is comfortable with.

How different touches create different responses.
How our position, our energy, and even our breathing influence the way they feel.

And somewhere in that quiet exchange, something beautiful happens.

We regulate their nervous system.
And in return, they help regulate ours.
A circle of calm energy,
shared between horse and human.

Before we ever ask a horse to carry us...
We first learn how to care for them.

Because every meaningful ride
Begins with kindness.

Day two is where we begin to get closer.
Not by rushing,
but by learning how to touch with calmness, how to stay present, and how to make the horse feel safe beside us.

We start introducing the tools we use together.
The halter.
The lead rope.
The small rituals that prepare the horse before stepping outside.

Not every horse accepts immediately.
And not every person realizes how much emotional regulation this part requires.

Because horses respond to energy,
more than control.

The calmer you become, the more they soften. The more trust you build, the more they allow you into their space.

We learn grooming work.
Flat work.
How to guide instead of force.
How to ask with clarity instead of tension.

And slowly, the horse begins to move with you,
not because it has to…
but because it feels safe enough to.

Follow for more moments from the Heart to Horse workshop 🤍

Some connections are spoken.
Others are felt in silence.

Before learning how to ride, we learn how to listen.
To their energy.
To our bodies.
To the space between fear and trust.

Heart to Horse 🤍

The first day starts inside the stable.
Before riding, before instructions, before anything else… we simply learn how to be around the horse.

How to enter their space calmly.
How to approach them without tension.
How to notice the small shifts in their body language — their ears, their eyes, their breathing, their movement.

We learn how much they respond to energy, sound, and intention more than force.

How even the way we stand, walk, or breathe changes the way they react to us.

When you reach to this point the horse starts to relax around you, pay attention to you, moves with you instead of away from you.

You learn that connection isn’t something you ask for,
It’s something the horse feels.

Stay tuned for more posts to explain Heart to Horse workshop.
