I think it’s safe to say Saturday was fun :)
I competed in my first Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition! And I was named one of four winners in the Illinois district! But most importantly, I had so much fun - I got to sing some of my favorite repertoire, and I got to meet so many lovely, talented people. Now I’m just getting excited about regionals! by @eamesquitamezzo

Senior recital was one for the books! Attendance was taken (thank you GAs!), the pink chaise was present (would it even be a Bienen performance without it?), and memories were made (only good ones of course). #wentintothefirebutdidntgetburned 😁 by @eamesquitamezzo

Last weekend still feels very much like a blur, so much so that it almost doesn’t feel real. These pictures remind me it was very real! And thank god I didn’t just dream it!

Thank you to all my fellow finalists (who I can’t wait to see in the future… because I know we will), to the judges (who were so encouraging and kind in offering advice and feedback), and to @operagrandrapids for making my VanderLaan experience the absolute best way to spend my spring break. 💕 by @eamesquitamezzo

Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, Central Region (1/25/25)

Let’s say I’m feeling encouraged. :) by @eamesquitamezzo

I most certainly HAVE got a sauce and I WILL have a nice peach (thank you for asking)!! Ta-ta to Albert Herring, but I’m guessing it’s more of a see-you-later than a farewell. 🍑🥖👒 by @eamesquitamezzo

I am so so lucky….. I look at these pictures, I think back to Saturday night, and I genuinely cannot stop smiling. ♥️♥️♥️ by @eamesquitamezzo

I have love love loved this show with my whole heart. The combination of Massenet’s writing and the role of Prince Charming and this particular group of people has made this experience so incredibly special. @alexichavezzz, watching you grow as a director and getting to work with you was so fun and so exciting and I really could not be more proud of you, and @calistasoprano, I couldn’t have done this with anyone else. While I am sad that it’s over, I know I’ll get to sing this again at some point in my future. Whenever that is, I’m looking forward to it! With all the love in the world, Prince Charming is signing off. ♥️ by @eamesquitamezzo

Happy world opera day to all who celebrate! I genuinely could not imagine my life without it. Many thanks to the production of Tosca that changed 5th grade Emily’s life. :) by @eamesquitamezzo

I feel grateful - to have sung in Italy (woah!), to have learned and performed in one of the hardest and most rewarding operas I have encountered thus far, and to have met friends who I know will last. Even looking at these pictures makes me sentimental, but I know I’ll have and cherish these memories for the rest of my life. I can’t wait until I get to work with these people again, hopefully at some point soon. So thank you La Musica Lirica and thank you Novafeltria. For everything. Grazie mille! by @eamesquitamezzo

Another show come and gone! Thank you and goodbye to Mistress Meg…. I sincerely hope I will get to sing this role again at some point in the future 🫶🏻 by @eamesquitamezzo
