Awhile ago we were asked if we wanted to chat about EMS with ethnomusicologist Eliot Bates for their work on modular synthesis communities and cultures. Since we’re not run by any one person, we figured we needed as many of us as possible to participate in the interview and to our delight, Bates obliged. And now Livestreaming a doitocracy has been published in Convergence: The International Journal of Research into New Media Technologies. This article is free to read through CUNY Graduate Centre, links in all the places.

Alien noises INCOMING!! 👾👽🛸 @earthmodularsociety had a stream train for their sixth birthday on Oct. 3rd. A stream train is basically when one person live-streams right after the next. Here I am fooling around and making noises. They supported the idea of me just flying by the seat of my pants with no idea what would happen and that's exactly what I did! #Arturia #Moog #Eventide #semimodular #experimentalmusic #womencomposers

Alt Text: Video shows my arms, and a hint of my flanel plaid sleeves. I reach for, play, and mess with an Arturia Minifreak, a colorful Moog Matriarch, a Mother 32 desktop synth, a Peavey mixer and an Eventide H9 FX pedal. by @earthmodularsociety

Heavy machinery across the street is relentlessly vibrating our house. I needed some release of stress and frustration. This patch represents an attempt at banishing those demons with an aural journey. The frequencies provide, and we are nourished. #eurorackmodular #modularsynth #electronicmusic #technomusic by @earthmodularsociety
