📍@sonoritasla 🌯🌮

this spot in sawtelle is a casual dine-in in sawtelle and when i say this was one of the best burritos i’ve had in Los Angeles, it seriously is. this is easily my top three 🤩 i swear I’m not even exaggerating, if anything i’m under hyping this place. you just have to go try it yourself!

📍Holbox 🐙🐟

this hole in the wall michelin star restaurant is hiding in DTLA and has some of the most fresh seafood i’ve had, like you can genuinely taste how fresh their raw cold dishes are. you MUST go here if you’re in LA, non-negotiable! and order a couple dishes to try, they’re super light and refreshing! 🤩

🍽️ Scallop Ceviche
🐙 Kanpachi Ceviche
🌮 Baja Fish Taco (my fav)
🌮 Grilled Kanpachi Taco
🌮 Smoked Kanpachi Taco
🥘 Sopa de Mariscos (not the biggest fan)

also given the quality and freshness of the food, for everything above we paid like $95 so price-wise in LA, it’s not that bad either.

🌯 LOW CARB, HIGH PROTEIN turkey & cheese wraps

🛒 i found @riseandpuff tortillas while i was doing my groceries one day and now they’re a staple as a low carb option plus they’re so tasty!

🧀 i use parmesan cheese since its lower in cal but you can def find similar options like sharp cheddar or low fat mozzarella!

🥗 added micro-greens for a nutritious kick + it makes for a good filling along with turkey slices from costco’s pack!

💯 quick meals are the way to go when you’re working full-time and doing a bunch of other side hustles in your 20s yet want to make sure you’re hitting your macros

📝 make sure you have enough protein in the wrap so it’s filling, whether you use turkey, chicken, tofu, etc!

🍕 HIGH PROTEIN: @eatyough pizza!

i’ve been thinking about making my own greek yogurt pizza for so long since it’s healthier and higher in protein but never got around to it. luckily i found @eatyough one day at @erewhon and thought i’d give it a try (they also have an offer for your first one free!)

the biggest plus point for me is that this pizza cooks in 8-10 minutes which is HUGE for someone whose super impatient like me when im hangry 🙃

now for the taste test, this pizza did not disappoint! the dough is definitely a lot softer so it’s not super crispy if you prefer your pizza on the crispy/crunchy side but i liked the texture a lot and the even the taste! it just feels so fresh and clean when you’re eating it so you get the pizza without the stuffy, lazy feeling after. i’d def recommend giving it a go! 😋

also 660 cals, 40g protein!

🌭 LOW CARB, HIGH PROTEIN hot dogs (50g protein + 690 cal)

😋 a friend recommended @evergoodsausage to me and they are SO GOOD! their flavors are spot on which makes it even easier to build a hot dog and avoid all the unnecessary sauces that load up on the fat & calories.

🍍 i used their pineapple flavor for this one which was perfect for some veggies from @traderjoes + get the low carb hot dog buns from any local grocery store (i went to @ralphsgrocery)

💯 quick meals are the way to go when you’re working full-time and doing a bunch of other side hustles in your 20s yet want to make sure you’re hitting your macros

📝 if you’re on a cut, just split the sausage in half and divide it between the two buns. they’re super filling so it’ll still be a good enough meal for one! and delicious!

📍 @altairnyc 🥞

if you’re someone that likes to make sure a hotel’s got great breakfast & coffee when you’re booking a room - @arlohotels in midtown is the spot! they’ve got @altairnyc which is a super cute restaurant they’ve got hidden away with great service & food! i mean just look at how fluffy those pancakes are 👀 and that peach yogurt bowl was so filling and protein-rich - great way to start the day after a workout at the hotel gym

📍@thenines_nyc 🌉🎶

visited this spot during my trip in the city, and this is def a MUST if you’re looking for something special! the low lighting with a secluded seating area and pianist playing makes time feel slow and the night extra enjoyable. this is a great spot to enjoy great food & great company.

plus they’ve got the famous $99 caviar potato which i posted twice because it was INCREDIBLE 🤩 we had a nine-course menu with all their main items but the potato caviar & ice cream sundae stole the show!

📍Cairo Cafe 🍯🧆

this cafe in anaheim is in a popular spot known as little arabia - it’s known for its flavorful Egyptian food & they’ve got great shisha/hookah for those interested! brought some of my friends here for the first time and we were BLOWN by how amazing the food was!!! 😋 there’s a reason they’re said to serve the best middle eastern food in anaheim!!

🍽️ lamb kabsa - the lamb was so soft & tender + the rice was so flavorful
🍽️ cairo mezza platter - hummus, lebneh, baba ghannouj, falafel, pita chips
🍽️ chicken shawarma + hawawshy + lentil soup (devoured before the picture)
🍯 kunafa

If you’re in the OC area or hitting up Disneyland nearby, you’ve got to stop by Cairo Cafe for lunch or dinner!!! 🤩

📍@ammatoli 🤩🧆

this restaurant is a gem in long beach, CA for amazing levantine (lebanese/palestinian) food if you’re looking for fine dining! it’s great to come with friends, family or even on a date - i loved the ambiance and the low lighting!

🍽️ spicy hummus & beetroot labneh w/ falafel for starters
🍽️ eggplant moussaka
🍽️ mixed shawarma
☕️ turkish coffee (infused w/ cardamom btw which was divine)
🫖 tea & baklava - gone before i could take a picture 🙃

everything we had was made perfectly and tasted like true levantine cuisine - my favorite was definitely the eggplant moussaka but we devoured everything!!! if you’re in the LA/OC area, Long Beach happens to be in the middle of the two and i would highly recommend adding this place to your plans for dinner!

📍Shawarma House 🧆

@shawarmaahouse HANDS DOWN best shawarma i’ve had so far in the LA/OC area! Plus the owner is the best - he’s super accommodating and sweet!! Catered some for a short film I produced last year and he gave us hummus & pita on the house and everyone devoured it!! 🤩

🍽️ Shawarma: Beef, Chicken, Falafel
🍽️ Hummus & Pita

Only regret is I wish I took more pics of my shawarma but it doesn’t even do it justice - you have to try it for yourself and the prices are great ~ $8-$15 average!

🎃🥞 LOW CARB + HIGH PROTEIN: pumpkin pancakes (45g protein)

Ingredients:
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup almond flour @bobsredmill
- 1/4 cup fat free milk
- 1/8 cup @vitalproteins collagen
- 1/2 tbsp @meltorganic plant based butter
- 1/8 cup pumpkin purée
- 1 tsp bourbon vanilla extract @traderjoes
- 1 tsp pumpkin spice @traderjoes
- 1 tsp baking powder

mix all the dry ingredients first and then start adding in the wet ingredients mixing it all together! make sure you use low heat when cooking the pancakes so it’s fully cooked throughout! 🥞

toppings:
- 15 raspberries
- 2 tbsp @barneybutter powdered almond butter (game-changer for lowfat, low cal nut butters!!!!)

i added the almond butter in between each layer which gave it the perfect amount of sweetness! these genuinely turned out a lot better than i expected since i was hesitant about the almond flour 🤩
