We talk a lot about the risk of leaving a job.

But what about the cost of staying?

· Your energy.
· Your peace.
· Your belief that work could feel meaningful.

I stayed too long because I thought I should be grateful. But gratitude and misalignment can coexist.

Leaving wasn’t easy. But staying was slowly breaking me.

Now I help others make the shift with less fear and more clarity — through Break Free coaching.

If you’ve ever wondered “what if”, you’re not alone. DM me for more info. #TransitionCoaching #BreakFree #CareerTransition #LeaveThe9to5 9to5WorkRebels by @ebonygaylecomms

I used to sit at my desk thinking:

“Is this really it?”

On paper, everything looked successful.
But internally?

I felt exhausted.
Disconnected.
Like I’d outgrown a version of success that no longer fit me.

That’s the thing about career misalignment:

Sometimes it doesn’t look dramatic.
It just feels like slowly losing yourself in a life that technically “works.”

That’s why I created Break Free — transition coaching for professionals ready for a different chapter, even if they don’t fully know what that looks like yet.

Wanting something different isn’t failure.
It’s alignment.

Only 50% of UK businesses have a crisis comms strategy.
That’s a risk. But it’s also an opportunity to prepare — not panic.”

Still in awe from my week at Cannes Lions 🌟
I was invited as a mentor via PRCA’s ERA programme, and the global majority talent I worked with reminded me exactly why representation still matters.

From powerful sessions with Serena and Shonda 👑 to surprise run-ins with Busta Rhymes and Mona Scott-Young (yes, that happened 😅), to chats, beach breaks, and bold ideas—this trip was a beautiful blur.

Cannes, thank you ✨

Fun time in Cannes with great insights and I got to meet my fave Rapper and Mona Scott Young #canneslions2025 by @ebonygaylecomms

Headed to Cannes waiting on my delayed flight ! ☀️🦁
I’ll be there for the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity as part of the PRCA’s ERA Programme—mentoring Young Lions and Students all week long.
Grateful to be recognised for my work in racial equity and authentic comms. But this trip? It’s bigger than that. It’s about showing up, creating space, and lifting others.
Excited to soak it all in—ideas, insights, inspo—and connect with some brilliant minds while I’m here.

🌀 Just left PwC’s resilience event on geopolitical upheaval and guess what—only comms person in the room. 😅

Wild, considering AI, cyber threats and global instability are shaking things up daily. Risk isn’t just about systems—it’s also about how you communicate under pressure.

I’ve stepped in mid-disaster before when the crisis plan was… missing (yep, really).
So here’s your reminder: don’t wait for the ish to hit.
💥 Get prepared. Get a plan. I can help.
